A feature of one of the 2017 applicants:
Pavel & Maxim are a couple of guys from Russia who have launched a startup to make some educational games.
The textbooks today are awfully boring. People have great technology at their disposal, but it is almost never used to create fun and engaging educational apps. If you browse the modern App Store you will find almost zero
high quality educational apps devoted to a hard science. So when it comes to natural science most kids experience 'science anxiety' and boredom which leads them to suffer in classrooms and poor understanding of science and how it works. Having poorly educated people, climate denialists are a lot of people that are prone to frauds.

So what is the solution? Make a series of fun educational games which use classical game mechanics to explain scientific concepts. Using them in classrooms and at home eases the learning process and ignite curiosity in kids.

"Who remembers what Avogadro's constant is for? Almost nobody. But those who played Super Mario Bros remember vividly that you can kill Goomba mushroom by jumping on top of it. So this is the idea. If you play with something, you interact with it a lot. You do it
willingly, and have fun. And you remember the game mechanics very well. And if the game's core mechanics use science, you'll remember the science very well.
Also in a
game you can set any goal for a player. And reaching this goal may require understanding of a scientific principle." - Pavel & Maxim
