May 2020 Newsletter

Jo McNeal

Executive Director

Wow, my first month has been a whirlwind. The NW Sarcoma Foundation is lucky enough to have its workforce already working remotely. However, this still has caused us some delays in accomplishing certain tasks and sadness that I have not been able to meet you, our supporters, in person.

Over the past month we have been looking over our new COVID-19 2020 budget and making adjustments to ensure our support of sarcoma patients continues beyond 2020. Your amazing support through donations and the Virtual Dinner & Show will make that happen. We were able to raise $5,000 through the Virtual Dinner & Show event on April 25th. Sorry if you missed it!

Now, we call you to action again for the Dragonslayer Walks! With both walks happening in September, you now have the time to start thinking about getting registered, creating your teams and fundraising. We will be doing different fundraising challenges each month. First up is May's TEN:TEN:TEN: 10 team captains registering 10 team members and each of those members raise a minimum of $10. Join in the fun! Learn more about this challenge on the Dragonslayer website:

I cannot thank you enough for your continued support. Looking forward to meeting many of you at the walks this fall. Please continue to follow CDC's stay-safe guidelines, our governments stay-home orders and we will get through.

We're looking for your feedback. Please assist us with your opinion regarding sarcoma patient's greatest non-clinical needs as a result of their sarcoma diagnosis and treatment.

Thank you to everyone who joined in our Virtual Dinner & Show! The Gr8 Cris took on the challenge of a Zoom comedy night. Our virtual paddle raise has currently raised $3,500 and still counting.
Depending on our stay-home orders, we may be hosting another virtual event soon. Keep your eyes open for announcements.
What does your support impact? Pediatric patients.
Here is one person's recent story.

We flew to Seattle with the clothes on our backs and were not prepared when my son was diagnosed. I couldn't find enough words to explain how much this has helped. Thank you.
We're doing okay. My son started his radiation this morning, he will be doing 30 rounds while still continuing is aggressive chemo therapy.
Nobody could ever be prepared for their child to be diagnosed with cancer. We won't be able to go home for at least 6 more months.
Cannot wait to win this fight and get my son home, safe and sound.
Thank you so soo much.
