How to Conduct a Virtual House Hunt

In these unprecedented times, everything from househunting to heading to the zoo has been done virtually. We're relying on online services more than ever, so how do you conduct a virtual house hunt?
  • Read through the descriptions of the houses you're considering and look for any missing information or words that can hint at an owner trying to hide the true details of the property.
  • Get the most out of virtual tours and don't be afraid to get your REALTOR®'s honest opinion. Get clarity on the little details of the home that you would notice if you were there in person, but can be hard to see via a virtual walkthrough.
  • Ask your real estate agent for the seller disclosure - a document that outlines any known problems with the home's structure, as well as the age of various features and any improvements.
  • Check out the neighborhood. Whether you use Google Earth or have your REALTOR® walk you through the neighborhood, it's important to know if the area will work with your lifestyle.

Mortgage Myths Debunked

If you've been keeping up with the news, you've probably seen tons of articles talking about the low mortgage rates and the influx of refinancing requests that lenders were going through. While rates have been at the lowest we've seen in years, there have also been some mortgage myths floating around the news. Check out some of the mortgage myths that have been debunked here, so you're prepared if you decide to become a homeowner in the next few months. 

Owning vs. Renting Guide

When it comes to deciding whether to rent or buy your own home, there are several factors to consider. There are financial benefits to owning your own home, do's and don'ts of the homebuying process, and funding to think about. One of the lenders we work with has put together a great informational resource that renters can use to educate themselves on owning vs. renting a home. You can access the resource here!

Periodic Property Review - Is It Just Me?

At some point in your tenancy, you will receive an email requesting you schedule a periodic property review with OnSight Pros. You might be wondering, What did I do? Is it just me?

The answer is no - we schedule these property reviews on a regular basis. Owners are curious about the condition of the home and we want to make sure that deferred maintenance is addressed as needed. 

Please make sure that all areas of the home are accessible, especially the water heater and water softener if they're in the garage.
