Food Bank Drive Update

We at MHN Property Management feel very fortunate to be able to help both our tenants, our owners and our vendors during this unprecedented year. And we asked for your help in helping others in need as well.

This year we combined our normal winter property drives and cookie delivery with a food drive for the San Antonio Food Bank

Winter drives took place during the first 15 days of December.

We are very happy to report that with the help of our tenants, owners, and vendors, we collected 403lbs of food donations that the MHN team delivered to the San Antonio Food Bank.  A heartfelt thank you to all that participated in making these trying times a little more enjoyable for those in need! Thank you so much for your communication and for being our tenants - especially during this crazy year. And thank you for making an effort to do a little bit of good for those less fortunate - together we did make a bigger impact!

Tips For Sticking To A
Budget During The Holidays

The holidays can be a stressful time, especially on your wallet, but there are ways you can get through the season without spending a fortune. Below are some tips to stick to a budget during this time of year:
  1. Set a Spending Limit - It's important that you crunch the numbers and decide how much you can spend while still covering your bills for the month. Do not go above that spending amount.
  2. Make a List of Who You Will Be Buying For - Besides your immediate family, the limit for the number of people you're giving gifts to shouldn't exceed five. For those that don't make the cut, give them cookies or a holiday card -- something that's inexpensive, but shows you care.
  3. Look for Coupons and Sales - Before purchasing the gifts, look for the best deal. There are also online tools you can use to help you find some useful coupons that may save you more money.
  4. Think Outside of the Present Box - Not everyone on your nice list necessarily wants a present under the tree. Could you plan a weekend that you spend with your parents and send them a tentative itinerary of what you'll do when you're home? It gives you time to save for the trip, find the best deal, and will still put a smile on their faces.
  5. Plan for Next Year - For every dollar you spend on presents this year, make a point to put a dollar into your savings account for next year, so you can avoid any holiday spending stress the end of the year brings.

Free Gift Ideas

If you don't know where to start when it comes to making a thoughtful gift without spending tons of money, we're here to help!
  • Plan a Year's Worth of Activities - Grab 12 envelopes and simply write out an activity that you promise to do with that person each month.
  • Make a Time Capsule - Put in some items that hold important memories into a box, then mark a date of when you'll gather to open the box. I think we can all say it'll be interesting to look back on 2020.
  • Make Your Own Version of a Popular Game You Have Lying Around - Switch out the Guess Who faces with pictures of celebrities, create some new Cards Against Humanity cards to add to the deck, or add dares to Jenga blocks.
  • Have a Book Exchange or Clothing Swap - If you and your friends have similar tastes or if you're all looking to try something new, do something where you each give the other something you already own. It's free and gives you something to talk about!
  • Make a Sugar Scrub - All you'll need is granulated sugar, olive oil, and a container to put it in. It's very simple and the perfect item for everyone to have in their bathrooms.
