You wear a lot of hats!

Dear educators,

We are thrilled to introduce the newly launched aka Teacher blog!

At PBS Wisconsin Education we see the motivation, dedication and passion of Wisconsin educators every day. The lengths you go to to ensure your students can thrive goes far beyond what non-educators might perceive as the tasks of a teacher.

The aka Teacher project started with a goal of recognizing the many hats educators today wear—many of which are never included in their job description.

On the blog, you’ll find short videos featuring Wisconsin educators sharing their insights about aspects of teaching that may never have been outlined in their training. The blog also includes tips and strategies teachers have used to best support learners. You’ll read posts written by teachers, for teachers, that will inspire you and offer practical guidance you can use today.

We are so grateful for all that you do for your students from being a mentor, entertainer, confidant, tech expert, fundraiser, advocate, disciplinarian, referee, tutor, nose wiper…aka Teacher.

This is your space, so please email us to tell us about a topic you want us to tackle or a colleague whose work should be shared.

Your partner in education,
Luisa de Vogel
Education Coordinator, PBS Wisconsin

Building classroom community, virtually

Read the first educator post on the aka Teacher blog! Madison educators, Iris Patterson and Jessica Fleischmann explore ways to build classroom community when the classroom exists on a screen. Find strategies that have worked for other educators to keep students engaged in and connected with learning during remote instruction.

You are an innovator

After reading the aka Teacher blog, hop over to Facebook and join the PBS Wisconsin Education Innovators, our teacher only Facebook group. The group is a trusted space to share insights and discuss topics that matter to you while building skills and relationships with fellow educators throughout Wisconsin. Join the community of over 300 innovative educators and make lasting connections.
