Superintendent's Welcome

It is my honor to serve as Superintendent for Chico Unified School District. This is my eleventh year in this position and I continue to find it both an exhilarating and humbling experience. Chico Unified is fortunate to have highly qualify teachers and staff, award winning extra-curricular activities including visual and performing arts and Career Technical Education pathways, in addition to championship athletic programs that all combine to ensure students gain the most from their educational experience.  Best of all, our schools have strong support from our local Chico community.  Our schools and students know Chico cares!

The landscape of education is evolving.  Our families not only want to know students are developing strong foundational skills in reading, writing and mathematics, but they are also challenging educators to integrate art, science, technology, engineering and career readiness skills into our course offerings to ensure students are best prepared for life beyond high school.

I welcome you to follow our stories on social media, participate at the school sites, or get involved by attending our Board of Education meetings.  It is through staff and community involvement that we can best foster academic achievement, the love of learning, and life-long success for our students.

Thank you for your involvement in our schools.  I look forward to continuing the many wonderful relationships and community partnerships that are already in place while continuing to develop new affiliations that benefit our schools, students and families.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have questions, ideas or suggestions.  I love hearing from our community members.

Sincerely,
Kelly
