2018 Promises Exciting Endeavors

2018 marks a big year for fostering community partnerships throughout Chico Unified. I’ve had the honor and privilege to begin working with ADVANCE North State and The Butte County Promise. Both of these programs are aimed at preparing students for their future beyond high school.
I also look forward to serving as the Region 2 representative on the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistant Team Governing Board. This board is comprised of representatives from all walks of education and will be an incredible opportunity for collaboration and knowledge sharing with other educational leaders throughout California.
Chico Unified will continue to move forward with our one:one Chromebook rollout, upgrading our school campus and facilities and strengthening our student achievement and career readiness. We’re also looking to expand our independent and online learning communities for the 2018-19 school year.
Our students continue to amaze and exceed our expectations every day. I thank you for supporting Chico Unified in our journey to provide opportunities for our students to succeed. Please enjoy all the great news we have to share as we start an incredible 2018.

These students, along with others, were recognized before the Board of Education, families and the community to celebrate their academic accomplishments.

The state requires students in certain grade levels participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) tests each spring. These students attained the highest possible scale score - a perfect score - on one (or more) of the state tests. We are so proud of these extraordinary students.

Community Partner Spotlight

The holidays were a little brighter when our Nutrition Service Department received a phone call from the North Valley Community Foundation. Their Christmas present was a very generous donation to our Chico Unified families.

The North Valley Community Foundation paid every single student balance. 1,224 students were able to begin the new year without debt on their student food account! We are so thankful for this very kind and impactful donation.
