The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and the accompanying Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), are new opportunities to engage with our Chico Unified families. The LCFF requires that we study data, consider best practices, understand our own needs, and discuss how to best invest in our students with the resources available to us. Meetings are held on an annual basis (usually in the spring) and public input is gathered during these meetings.

First Public Input Meeting - Wednesday, 3/4/20
Government municipalities across California, including the City of Chico, are transitioning to a new election system. Chico Unified School District Board of Education members are currently elected through an “at-large” election system, which means candidates for the Board of Education can reside anywhere in Chico Unified’s area of service and are elected by all registered voters that live within the Chico Unified School District boundaries.
Over recent months, in light of concerns regarding the existing at-large election system for the City Council of Chico, and based on in-depth information provided by the California School Boards Association (CSBA), and other sources, Chico Unified School District has been exploring a move to “trustee area” elections.
