Congratulations to The September Superintendent's Award Recipients

Transportation Coordinator Tammi Ramos (Transportation Department) and Instructor Heather Pedrozo (Shasta Elementary School) received the Superintendent's Award. Both were recognized for going above and beyond to help students. Congratulations, and thank you for your dedication and support!

2018-19 Facts & Figures
  • 1,039 - Average number of students transported by bus each year
  • 21 - Regularly scheduled bus drivers
  • 17 - Substitute bus drivers
  • 500 - Sports and Field Trips per year (approx. 2.75 extra trips/day)

Typical Schedule
  • Morning Routes Run 5:25 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. (25 regular routes)
  • Mid-day Routes Vary Throughout the Day (Special Education and students who need extra support)
  • Afternoon Routes Run 12:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (26 regular routes and includes Special Ed and Boys & Girls Club transportation)

Continuing to Improve - The Transportation Department continues to make improvements to increase customer service and decrease program costs.
  • Safety cameras are included inside the buses
  • Obtaining grants to purchase new, electric buses
  • The bus fleet continues to receive upgrades including the addition of replacing old buses with more efficient, new diesel models
  • The investment of air conditioning and fresh exterior paint
  • In-house maintenance model with four staff technicians
  • An emphasis on safety training, strong communication with the transportation office and an increased focus on customer service

Generous Donation

Pleasant Valley High School alumni, Aaron Rodgers, provided our football athletes with brand new, top-ranked VICIS ZERO1 football helmets! The Board accepted this donation at the September 4, 2019 Special Board Meeting/Workshop.

In total, 375 helmets were donated to Pleasant Valley, Chico High and Paradise High School teams. Thank you for this incredible donation! Learn more:

Board Agenda Recap

September 4, 2019 - Special Board Meeting/Workshop
  • The Board approved all Consent Calendar Items
  • The Board approved the Declaration of Obsolete Textbooks at all three junior high schools
  • A one-year provisional internship was approved for a certificated employee
  • September's Board Workshop Topic - Transportation Program Review
  • The Charter School Committee brought forward four projects for consideration for the following schools: Inspire, Chico Country Day School, Sherwood Montessori and Forest Ranch Elementary. All Charter School Measure K Project requests were approved
  • Board Policy 5141.21 - Administering Medication and Monitoring Health Conditions was brought forward for a second reading and a vote. The Board unanimously approved the Board Policy changes
  • The Board took action on Closed Session Agenda Item 4.6., Consideration of Request for Board Appeal of Uniform Complain Determination; the Board unanimously voted to approved Resolution No. 1481-19, Board Decision Not to Hear Uniform Complaint

  • The meeting consisted of Closed Session items only - no actions were taken in Closed Session

  • The Board approved all Consent Calendar Items
  • Chico Country Day School's Charter Petition was renewed
  • A Public Hearing was held for Resolution No. 1479-19, Textbook Sufficiency for the 2019/20 School Year
  • A public hearing was held for Pivot North Valley Charter Petition Renewal
  • The following Board Policies were brought before the Board for a first reading and will be brought to the Board for discussion at the October 2, 2019 Board Workshop
