Who Ordered Attack On Kateryna Gandziuk?

On July 31 an unknown man poured sulfuric acid into Kateryna Gandzyuk. Under public pressure, the police re-classified the case from "hooliganism" to "attempted murder with particular cruelty". She received about 35% of skin burns. "It’s hard for me to follow the investigation, as I am focused on recovery... But I'm sure when I finish my treatment, the Ministry of Interior will be responsible for every false statement, lost day, hurt fate in this case, for each late appointed forensic examination" - said Gandzyuk. A man, who was randomly arrested allegedly as the perpetrator, was released recently due to having a strong alibi.

This is only the beginning. Violence will be more brutal. Gandzyuk and other activists tell about attacks on them. Full text by Ukrayinska Pravda

AntAC Filed Lawsuit Regarding SAPO's Closure Of The Case Against Avakov's Son

AntAC filed a lawsuit to Solomyanskyi Court on the decision of SAPO prosecutor Vasyl Krychun to close the criminal proceeding regarding the “case of backpacks.” The case concerns Oleksandr Avakov, son of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, and former Deputy Minister Serhii Chebotar. More details

Supreme Court Rejected NABU's Appeal Regarding Reprimand For Kholodnytsky
Though the Prosecutors' Disciplinary Commission recognized that SAPO head Kholodnytsky had committed grave violations, they refused to fire him and only reprimanded.

NABU appealed this decision in the Supreme Court, but
according to UNIAN their claim was rejected. Such a refusal directly violates the Constitution, the Code of administrative justice and the right to a fair trial. The Supreme Court informed that the decision of the Prosecutors' Commission can be appealed in the High Council of Justice only, but even this would require Prosecutors' Commission's permission. This Supreme Court's decision can be appealed in the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court.
UNIAN: Commission of Judges Wants To Close Interviews With Judicial Candidates From The Public

Surprisingly, the High Qualification Commission of Judges believes that not crimes or misconducts committed by judges lead to discreditation of the judicial system. Instead, in their opinion, transparency of judges' selection and appointment is to blame. The Commission is considering the possibility to stop the procedure of conducting open interviews with judicial candidates. More details

State Bureau of Investigations:
Illusion of Competition

The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) in Ukraine should become an analogue of American FBI. The new agency will investigate crimes committed by officials, namely politically exposed persons, judges, former Presidents.

The recruitment is ongoing these summer days for various positions at the bureau, including the managerial.
However, during interviews candidates are not asked about the origin of assets and “dark spots” in biography. Also, before voting for the leaders of the SBI, media published the list of finalists. This might indicate that the result is predetermined, and the selection panel is not independent. RFE/RL's Schemy investigation

AnTAC Achieved Termination of 42 Million UAH Contract:
Authorities Tried To Pay Twice For The Same Road Repairs

The Ternopil Regional State Administration intended to pay twice for the same road repairs. AntAC lawyers appealed to the State Audit Service regarding this issue. The latter requested the Administration to eliminate detected violations, as well as informed the police about this tender. Later on it became known from “ProZorro” that tender was canceled because of “impossibility to eliminate the violation”. More details

Oleg Sentsov has been on a hunger strike for more than 100 days already.

Strong international pressure on Kremlin is the only chance for Sentsov and over 70 other Ukrainian citizens illegally detained by Russia to be released
