School-Community Partnerships: A Lifeline in Challenging Times

On the LEARN blog, we hear from the Director of LEARN’s Provincial Resource Team, Debbie Horrocks, who reminds us how in the early days of the pandemic Quebec's community schools/Community Learning Centres helped their local families by leveraging partnerships.

For more than 15 years, schools participating in Quebec’s community schools (Community Learning Centres network) have been building social capital and developing strategic partnerships in communities across the province. How Schools Can Support Families for a Successful Transition to School

Springtime heralds the beginning of the transition to school for our youngest students. While K4/K5 registration is underway across Quebec, families and schools are looking towards preparing for this next step with the little ones.

The QEP’s new Preschool Education Program highlights the importance of partnerships “that can be established with community resources that work together (e.g. during transition activities) and ensure that they address the needs of children and families,”. (MEQ, 2021).
