It is always good to welcome new members to the Club, and we have had 18 so far this year, but the other side of the coin is that I have sometimes to pass on sad news about members.
I am very sorry to tell you that I have heard of the deaths of two long standing members of the Club.

Sheila Bradshaw died towards the end of July. Her husband Keith joined the Club in 1991 and Sheila became a member in 1998. They owned the cruiser Wake, which is still owned by a Club member.  In recent years they enjoyed attending our social events, especially the Christmas lunch, and did mange a short visit earlier this year to watch some sailing. Sheila's funeral was a family affair in August but if anyone would like to make a charitable donation in her memory you can do this via JustGiving   https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wwwamanda-carbert

Peter Taylor died this week. He had been ill for a short time.
Peter joined the Club in 1980 and had the River Thames in his blood. His working life was spent on the Thames as a lighterman, as was his father, and so he had a very detailed knowledge of the river which he was very willing to share with members. He sailed his cruiser Enliven, often singlehanded, along the length of the Thames and around the creeks and rivers of the East coast.
When I have information about the funeral I will pass it on to any members who would like it.

Val
