Rising awareness of placemaking, pedestrianisation and the Sheung Wan Fiesta
大眾開始關注地方營造、行人專用區等相關議題,同時留意《上環樂》的可行性
Liveability, walkability, and wellbeing are suddenly concepts that are on top of policy maker and influencer agendas worldwide. People want to live in cities that value human beings over cars. Modern town planning that is people-centric attracts and maintains talent. New streetscape designs that are inclusive and cater to specific demographics are becoming prevalent in world-class cities around the globe. Particularly in urban-dense areas such as Hong Kong, the need for car-free spaces and disincentives for driving, is stronger than ever. Here are examples of how the discussion on creating better cities has escalated.

宜居城市、可步行性及生活質素等話題近期都不斷被提起,不少人開始關注這些相關議題。大眾都希望自己居住的城市可以更以人為本,而這種規劃可以吸引並留住人才居住在該城市,提高地方競爭力。現時,有不少世界級城市,在設計街道時,不只考慮到其獨特性更同時照顧到不同人口的需要。所以,在香港這個人口密集的城市,更應該設立無車空間。以下幾篇文章都提出了行人專用區對香港的好處。

Central Wan Chai bypass fully opened on February 24
中環灣仔繞道在224日全面通車
 
After the construction of Rumsey Street Flyover completed, the multibillion-dollar bypass fully operated on past Sunday (24 Feb). Central Wan Chai bypass built to ease traffic in the heart of Hong Kong like traffic from Connaught and Gloucester roads. This would create a chance to reduce traffic on Des Voeux Road Central. When there are less car on DVRC, it brings an opportunity and higher possibility to implement our project – Sheung Wan Fiesta.
 
林士街天橋工程完成後,斥資過300億的繞道終於在過去的星期日 (2月24日) 正式全面通車。中環灣仔繞道興建旨在疏通香港主要道路的車流,例如干諾道中及告士打道。繞道有望把德輔道中的車輛分流至干諾道中。當德輔道中的車輛減少後,《上環樂》計劃將有更大機會實行。

WMA Open Photo Contest Exhibition
WMA 映香港攝影比賽作品展
 
This exhibition, curated by Hilda Chan and Iven Cheung, showcases photographic works of the 3 winners and 7 finalists for the annual theme “Transition”. Ten artists with completely different backgrounds and experience brought their unique insights to bear on the theme of ‘Transition’.
 
「WMA 映香港攝影比賽作品展」由陳芍君及張耀輝聯合策劃,展示以「過渡」為題的三份得獎作品和七份入圍作品 。十位背景和歷練皆截然不同的藝術家,以他們獨特的視野與洞見演繹了「過渡」的主題。

Walkability Study by HKSAR government
「香港好.易行」

Transport Department has commenced the "Consultancy Study on Enhancing Walkability in Hong Kong" aiming at formulating planning and design standards based on pedestrian-first principles for developing Hong Kong into a walkable city. DVRC was one of the selected areas to study on how to make it more walkable. Suggestion included to widen the sidewalks and improve the streetscape of DVRC.
 
運輸署展開「提升香港易行度顧問研究」,以行人優先的概念,制定各項規劃設計標準,使香港成為「易行城市」。德輔道中更被列入為其中一個研究範圍,方案包括擴闊及美化行人路。

You must join this event if you are passionate about drawing. During the event, you may explore the historical streets of Central with the Wahayeah Sketch Group drawing tours or join illustrators Dirty Paper and Human Ip and try your hand at sketching plants in the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences’ Herbal Garden.
 
如果你熱愛繪畫,不妨參加這個活動發揮長處。藝術團隊「畫下嘢」會帶領參加者走到中上環欣賞舊建築和街道,親身體驗當區獨有文化氣息,一嚐以畫筆速寫城市的樂趣。另外,插畫家Dirty Paper和葉曉文帶領參加者走入香港醫學博物館,在草藥園了解各種植物。
