COVID-19 Cases in Houston: 232; Deaths: 2

The City of Houston is developing a dashboard to display additional information about the city's COVID-19 cases, such as age range, travel history and recovery status. The dashboard will be available at HoustonEmergency.org/covid19 once developed.

Houston Health Department confirms Houston's second COVID-19 death; 163 new case reports

The Houston Health Department reported Saturday the second coronavirus (COVID-19) death in Houston. The department also announced 163 new COVID-19 cases, bringing Houston's total to 232. The jump in cases is a result of a batch of reports received by the department from area medical providers.  Read the News Release
 

Houston's community based testing site open to anyone with COVID-19 symptoms

Houston's free drive-thru community based testing site is now available to anyone with COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty breathing. The site only accepts people with a unique identification code obtained through a screening process. People who show up without an identification code will not get tested. Houstonians may call 832-393-4220 to be screened. 

COVID-19 call center open

The Houston Health Department is operating a COVID-19 call center for Houston residents who need information about COVID-19 or to be screened for the free Houston community based testing site.

Houstonians may call 832-393-4220 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Houston Health Department (HHD) works in partnership with the community to promote and protect the health and social well-being of Houstonians and the environment in which they live. HHD is a full-service health department that not only performs all core functions of a Public Health Department but also many enhanced functions including initiatives to address health inequities. HHD services
benefit all Houston residents but the department also takes additional steps to support those most in need, such as low-income mothers and children, the elderly and minority populations. Most HHD functions serve the 2.3 million residents of the City of Houston but the scope and impact extends into Harris County’s population of 4.7 million people through the department’s Area Aging on Aging, Bureau of Youth and Adolescent Health, Project Saving Smiles, See to Succeed, immunization strategies, syndromic surveillance and HIV-STD surveillance. HHD’s laboratory also services a 17-county region.
