Nice to see you again for Semester 2! We hope you are as excited as us to be back to uni after a well-deserved winter break and the impromptu lockdown. If you are beginning your university journey this semester, we at the diversIT committee would love to give you a warm welcome as well 😊

We hope Semester 2 will be smooth and enjoyable for both returning and new students, and so we are back early in Week 1 with some cool new opportunities and events that can help kick off the semester!

AI & Deep Learning workshops

 02/08  Ever wanted to learn more about AI and deep learning? Well, now's your chance to delve into these topics, with FEM and MDN's exciting new workshop collaboration! In this workshop series, you will have the opportunity to explore what deep learning is, and how it affects what we know about AI and neural networks, alongside the implications it has on the advancements in gender and ethics. Programming Bootcamp Resources

Keen to get a leg up on programming? Sign up to get access to all the resources used in this semester's Programming Bootcamp, a 2-day weekend which was held last week. Resources include slides, coding exercises, and a recording of the live action on both days of the Bootcamp!

charityBay Front End Web Developer

charityBay is an Australian start-up based in Melbourne, created with a focus on selling pre-loved items and generating money that could go towards the personalised needs of any charity. With countless items being left on nature strips or in the rubbish and ending up in landfill, charityBay also helps to give these items a second life and reduce our impact on the environment. To help with their goals, they are seeking a front end web developer volunteer. In this role, there is ample opportunity for growth as you will have be working closely with a mentor alongside senior leadership.

Run for the Kids Event Volunteer

Get involved to help raise vital funds for the 2021 Good Friday Appeal with this year’s HeraldSun | Transurban Run for the Kids event! The fun-run will be held on Sunday 29th August, 2021 and there are a number of volunteer positions available. Oh, and did we mention, lunch will be provided on the day as well as a free t-shirt and cap!
