Hey Divers,

And that's a wrap on semester one - congratulations to you all! We'll keep this one short (we know you guys are hard at work with exams right around the corner.)

We wanted to take this opportunity to invite you all to check out the Faculty's Women in Tech Mentoring Program - details below. It's not to be missed! Additionally, our chosen article for Diversity in Tech this edition gives some cogent advice on how to grow your tech career, especially for women in tech.

The finish line is in sight, friends - keep healthy, keep happy, start your arrays at 0, and we'll see you next semester!

Faculty of IT: Women in Technology Alumni Mentoring

29/6   At diversIT, one of the most common issues we discuss is the participation rate and retention rate of women and non-binary people in the tech industry. Monash recognises this too, and has opened applications for their Women in Technology Alumni Mentoring Program.

If you are female/non-binary and going on IBL, unsure of your IT career path, or just want to expand your professional network and perspective - this three-month program is for you!

You'll be paired with accomplished alumni, learn from their experience in the IT industry, and receive guidance and support for your professional goals. The WIT program helps students expand their networks, gain critical insights into the field, grow professionally, and get a headstart on their careers.

Applications close next Monday!

Wall of Appreciation
Ongoing   The Faculty of IT have set up a wall of appreciation for this semester! Anonymously add your expressions of gratitude to those who have made your semester better!
McKinsey Women in Leadership Scholarship

26/6   McKinsey & Company would like to offer you an opportunity to apply for the Women in Leadership Scholarship and Internship– a program designed to recognise talent and support women who would like to maximize their own potential. You'll get first-hand experience with consulting at McKinsey, and the opportunity to receive $15,000 study support scholarship.

Boston Consulting Group Scholarship Program

5/7   BCG offers two scholarships to students in their penultimate year of study – one for a female applicant in line with our commitment to supporting women build successful careers, and another which is open to everyone. An application is not only an opportunity to be considered for one of the two scholarships but also an opportunity to be considered for a graduate position.

Bain's True North Scholarship

27/8   Are you bright, enthusiastic and curious? Do you enjoy solving challenging problems? Are you looking to chart your own course through an extraordinary career? We will invite selected applicants to a workshop created to give an in-depth look into the consulting industry. The scholarship winner receives a one-time stipend (varies by office), a Bain mentor and a possible offer for our Associate Consultant role.

In recent decades, women in the tech industry have made great strides in overcoming biases in the workplace and in hiring practices. Skye Wu of Telstra discusses her own professional journey in IT, and shares her advice for female techies looking to grow their career!
