Hello Divers,

We're coming to you live from Bit by Bit! This weekend, diversIT competed in WIRED's hackathon for beginners, and we had a blast. It comes highly recommended  See the scoop down below!

Tip of the week, from Marcus: "One of the coolest things we found out about this weekend was Gatsby, a React-based web framework that's part of the new wave of webdev best practices. It combines everything from JS to HTML, CSS, and whatever APIs you like for creating slick web apps and deploying fast."

Bit by Bit 2019 Recap

This weekend, Tiffany, Lingli, Simran and Marcus (your friendly narrator) spent our weekend at WIRED's beginner-friendly hackathon, Bit by Bit!

Hackathons are a great way to hone the skills that uni can't teach -  about developing both software and marketable products. The mentors pointed us in directions we'd never have considered, and witnessing everyone else's ideas and innovation exposes you to so many new technologies and pathways. We entered as first timers, and we were really proud of what we managed to create in 36 hours!

Tiffany and Lingli: "It was an intense and rewarding process. We got loads of help and pointers from the mentors and we learnt so much over just two days!"

So, even if you're second-guessing your coding skills, we really encourage you all to sign up for the next hackathon and expand your horizons!
