Hello Divers,

Welcome to Week 3! (No backing out now :>)
It is still intern recruitment season... so keep an eye on the GradConnection calendar, LinkedIn feed and everything else.
(For all you jaffys, well, just enjoy the events, grab some laptop stickers and you'll blend in fine.)

Tip of the week, from Jack: "As a current intern at SAP, I can vouch for the SAP STAR Intern Program. Depending on your chosen preferences, you'll be exposed to a wide array of knowledge including cloud computing, design thinking and creating product demos for our clients. Scroll down and apply!"

We've also been busy representing diversIT at Hopper Down Under! Tiffany and Joanna have the scoop:

During week 1 this semester, we had the great opportunity to go to the first Hopper Down Under event by AnitaB in Australia, a conference celebrating women in technology.

The three days were filled with amazing presentations, workshops and panels from many influential and successful women in tech sharing their ideas and knowledge. There was discussion of future tech, critiques of gender stereotypes and effects on childhood, as well as interesting panels on what can be done to improve representation of women in STEM.

Joanna: "My favourite presentation was by Lucy Cameron from CSIRO/Data61. She discussed the role government has in creating successful innovation clusters, such as Silicon Valley and the future of a digital economy in Vietnam."

Tiffany: "One of my favourite moments from the Hopper Down Under was the workshop on creative coding with wearable technology. In the workshop,  we coded a tote bag to change colours and detect light. It was really interesting to learn how we can use code in fun and exciting ways."

A shout out and huge thanks to the Faculty of IT at Monash for supporting all of us to go to Hopper Down Under!

That's all from us this week. Keep it real!

Cheers,
The diversIT Newsletter Team
