Dear Parents and Caregivers and Students,
Our school culture is driven by our values which compel all students and staff to do their best in all school endeavours.
There are many programs, routines and events that we implement that sustain this culture by inspiring and mentoring students and recognising collective and individual achievement.
Award ceremonies play an important role in bringing our school together to celebrate and acknowledge extraordinary achievement across a wide range of student endeavours.
One of the key goals of our Awards ceremonies is that all students will be reminded that not everyone can be the best but that everyone can do their best and for this reason a number of awards are peer nominated and democratically determined to ensure every student has input into the acknowledgement process.
Awards are presented for:
· Principal’s medals for outstanding academic achievement
· Islander awards for students who engage fully in school life
· Spirit awards to students who embody the school values
· Special awards in sporting and cultural achievements
· Commitment to community service
The Mid Year Awards Ceremony for Years 7 to 12 is at the following times on Thursday 23rd February in the Island School Performance Space:
- Years 7 and 8 at 10 am
- Years 9 and10 at 11.45 am
- Years 11 and 12 at 2.00pm
The awards will be live stream via Facebook. Parents should visit https://www.facebook.com/islandschool
The live feed post will be the top (first) post on the day of the awards.

Principal, Island School
