Dear Parents and caregivers
It was tremendously satisfying to see so many Islanders turn out for the school fair last Friday. Our school community shrugged off the threat of poor weather to grasp the opportunity to come together to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate all things Island School.
The fair had something for everyone and the house activity stalls and the sponge the teacher stall were constantly surrounded by large crowds of laughing students.
Those who ventured to the performing space were thrilled by the wonderful entertainment which showcased the talents and achievements of our students.
As usual, the food court was tremendously popular and the delicious cuisine prepared and served by some of our very own Island School families was a fantastic hit with all in attendance.
One of the highlights of the fair was the official opening conducted by ESF CEO Ms. Belinda Greer. The short ceremony included a celebration of the redevelopment journey, the unveiling of the official plaque and also the cutting of a massive commemorative cake. The cake was prepared by Mr. Chris Lord and the IGCSE students and funded by the Island School Alumni.
The school fair was not only a fun day for everyone involved, but also a fundraising event for our school. The proceeds from the fair will go towards establishing an outdoor classroom in the community garden. The silent auction also raised a very significant amount of funds which will go to the Nicola and Kenneth Bursaries fund which aids secondary school students who need financial support to continue their education.
We are very grateful to the ISPTA, the student council, and everyone who contributed to the success of the fair, either by organizing, volunteering, donating, or attending. We hope you had a wonderful time at the fair and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
Best wishes,
Mr. Stephen Loggie
Principal, Island School

These short videos may stimulate your conversations about this topic at home:

It was a wonderful event with an amazing variety of food, entertainment, fun games and a really big cake!
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the first Island School Fair on the new campus. This would not have been possible without the whole community of students, staff and parents coming together.
Special thanks to the Spring Fair organising committee, our food stall coordinators, parent volunteers, sponsors and site staff.
