Global Learning Without Travel - visit the new web hub!

Connect your students to global learning...without the need to travel! UAlberta International has curated opportunities to globalize one's degree - no passport required.

Global learning can enhance your students' degree experiences and set them apart when it comes time to apply for employment. They’ll gain new perspectives and a fresh world view.

There are many ways and levels for both undergraduate and graduate students to get involved, from volunteering part-time to acquiring a certificate embedded with their degree.

Read about Jenny Le's experience undertaking a virtual international internship
In the summer of 2019, Jenny Le embarked on a ten-week internship in Aachen, Germany. “I had traveled before but never spent an extended period of time in a different cultural context,” says the Edmonton native. “I decided to take a risk.”

The University of Alberta’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) offers students generous funding to conduct their own research projects at a number of partner institutions, including RWTH Aachen University. A student in the Faculty of Psychology, Jenny was drawn to the opportunity to work with RWTH Aachen’s psychiatry department on a study of neurofeedback therapy in adult patients.

Sustainable Development Goals at UAlberta - explore the website

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 and set out a blueprint for achieving peace and prosperity for people and planet by the year 2030. They recognize that ending poverty and inequality goes hand-in-hand with protecting the environment and building the economy.

The SDGs align well with the University of Alberta’s vision to build one of the world's great universities for the public good. As part of placing Canada on the forefront of global change, through discovery and learning, our academic community is helping to pave the way toward achieving these “global goals” in the ten years that remain.
