Mariposa museum of World Cultures brings the Big Book of Peace to Peterborough in an exhibit that will open July 10th and continue through the end of the year. The product of twelve years of work by members of a middle school writers’ club in Groton, MA, this project was born from the simple conviction that young people CAN make a difference in helping to create a more peaceful world. There are 1000 pages in this 12 feet tall by 10 feet wide tome.

Uplift Music Fest, held on July 28th, is a community driven festival showcasing The Monadnock Region’s finest in musicians, artists, food, and much, much more! The mission of the event is to uplift our community through a family oriented music and arts based event. Local farmers, artists and businesses are encouraged to share their talents and products at the festival. By doing so, they help raise awareness on the importance of supporting our local economy. Thornton Wilder in Peterborough!
International conference & production of his work!
This month is a great time to be in Peterborough if you love theater, playwrighting, or storytelling! July 12-14 Peterborough welcomes the 3rd annual International Thornton Wilder Conference. There will be fifteen workshop sessions on different Wilder-based topics from acting to hunting through the digital archives of his work at Yale.
Additionally, the Peterborough Players will be performing "The Skin of Our Teeth" - a play by Thornton Wilder which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama - now through July 15th.
On Saturday July 21st, six distinctive homes and six gardens will be open from 10AM to 4PM. The homes date from late 18th to early 19th centuries. Hancock is a town of delightful gardens and captivating historic homes. Most of the buildings on Main Street are listed on the National Register of Historic places. There will also be live music, a boutique craft bazaar, a cocktail hour at the Hancock Inn, and more.
The Monadnock Center for History and Culture is offering drop-in Fairy House making the day before their annual Fairy House Day. Children of all ages can explore the Center’s buildings and grounds to discover fairy houses, fairy doors, and magical structures. Costumes encouraged!
