Come sample some authentic holiday cooking
Come visit Peterborough New Hampshire's Monadnock Center for history and culture for some 19th Century Christmas Treats! Costumed interpreters, Samuel and Nancy Prescott, will share Christmas traditions and tell you about daily life in their home, a foreman’s home for the Phoenix Mill. Their dishes are prepared from historic recipes over the open fire. The day’s menu includes Tattie Scones, root vegetable and ham soup, Plum Pudding with nutmeg sauce, Early American Christmas cookies, English Gingerbread, and carrot pie.

Nature on Tap: Santa's Magic Mushroom

A holiday themed exploration at the Hancock Inn
Mythology meets natural history in this holiday-themed Nature on Tap! You’ll look at Santa in a whole new light after Susie Spikol Faber reveals the fascinating link between the divine soma mushroom and the origins of Jolly Old Saint Nick. Drinks on you, conversation on us. 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hancock Inn. Reservations are required, as space is limited. To reserve a seat, contact Sara LeFebvre at (603) 525-3394 or lefebvre@harriscenter.org.

Four local artists present an impressive new collection of contemporary pieces
Brian Cohen, Medora Hebert, Deborah Lloyd Kaufman, and Erika Radich share their latest work.

Printmaker Erika Radich says this about her work: 
"My most recent exploration deals with the uncanny survival of plant life in the Chernobyl 30 km exclusion zone since the 1986 nuclear accident.  I have produced a series of prints that reflect my interpretation and reaction to a set of haunting images of these plants called 'Unnatural Testimony.'"

Two ways to see it this year!
A Christmas Carol, is Charles Dickens's famous novella on a unhappy miser who turns his life around to embrace charity and giving. There are a few companies across the region mounting productions - so if you love this story, don't miss out!

Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol
December 7-17 at the Peterborough Players Theatre in Peterborough, NH
The Players are a professional theatre company that has operated in the Monadnock region since the mid 20th century. Only recently have they begun producing a winter season. Check out this great fresh take on A Christmas Carol!

Enjoy students age 7-18 performing this play under the direction of Deborah Shakespeare Thurber and get treated to a festive 4 course holiday dinner.
