BOARD NEWS

Our nonprofit is beginning our 4th year! While the master plan will be our most visible project, we are busy creating the framework for the future, including a volunteer policy handbook, grant application procedures, and continuing our board development. You can say we've entered the toddler stage. We hope to be comfortably in our groove by the teen years.

FORD'S POND MASTER PLAN

It begins! Thursday, March 2, was the project initiation meeting and onsite visit with the Cameron McCarthy team. The walk was a slog in some areas, the drainage issues couldn’t be missed. The group was well-prepared for the weather.

Representatives from the Sutherlin City Council, Planning Commission, and Parks Advisory Committee, along with City staff and the Friends of Ford’s Pond joined four team members from Cameron McCarthy for the trek around the property.

The view from the hillside of both Cole’s Valley and the Sutherlin Valley/Ford’s Pond brought a few, “I should hike this more often” comments from the locals. You get an aerobic workout, awesome views, and it’s right here in our backyard!

We’d like to thank all who gave us their valuable time on Thursday. We could sense the excitement and the enthusiasm for the project.

VISITING FORD'S POND

Flooding…did we mention there was flooding? Don’t let a little water stop you.  Waterproof boots are recommended.

The bald eagles are hunting almost daily.

Waiting on the first osprey sighting for the year.
