Welcome to this months issue of Foster Parent 411!

It appears the warm summer weather has finally arrived!  Please remember to keep your child’s foster care worker informed of anytime your child is going to be away from your home overnight.  This includes summer camp and vacation.  Also remember that foster children cannot miss parenting times, medical, dental or mental health appointments due to summer camp attendance or vacations.  Please plan accordingly.
Please take a few minutes to read the revised Foster Care Program Statement (linked here). It can also be found at Foster Parent Central. To sum up, DABSJ believes that children belong with their families of origin and to that end, we are committed to providing exceptional service to foster children and their families by working diligently and tirelessly towards safe and successful reunification.  The expectations of foster parents are to provide a temporary, nurturing and loving home until the children can be reunited with their parents, siblings or a relative caregiver and actively support the child(ren)’s parents and family.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your licensing specialist.

Thank you for all that you do!
- Deb Disler, Licensing Manager

We reward families with $200 when they successfully recruit a family who becomes licensed as a foster parent or is approved to adopt.  If you know someone interested in foster care or adoption, you can connect them with Lisa Puente at lpuente@dabsj.org.
Thank you Dianne Lake for stepping up and taking a day to do sub care for two twin girls. You are such a team player and we appreciate what you do for us everyday!

We are pleased to announce that Brittany Beckman has accepted the new position of Performance Manager.  As you may know, Child Welfare has had an opening on our management team since the departure of Mary Jo Sabatis. When Lannea was promoted to FC Manager we took the opportunity to make some necessary adjustments that would respond to the changing demands of Child Welfare We have been very purposeful in the design of this new position. In this role, Brittany will be instrumental in strengthening programs, improving systems, and engaging and empowering families.

Brittany brings 8 years of Foster Care experience, 6 of which were at DABSJ.  In 2017 she left her FC Supervisor position and joined the KSSN team, further developing her therapeutic skills.  We are very excited to have Brittany return to the Child Welfare Team and look forward to the exceptional services that she and the entire staff will provide.
