Why is Fall/winter the best time for a Fraxel treatment?
After undergoing laser treatments your skin becomes extra sensitive and sun exposure can aggravate your skin. Therefore, the patient is advised to avoid direct sun for about 4 weeks while the skin heals. During fall/winter your exposure to sun is significantly less; This is why Fall is a suitable time for a Fraxel® treatment.

How does Fraxel work and how many treatments?
Fraxel is carried out using two unique wavelengths which can be used independently or as a combination, depending on each patient’s needs. One wavelength treats concerns such as acne scars or wrinkles that are deeper in skin layers and the other effectively targets age spots, tone and texture, which more superficial. Typically, a series of 3 to 4 treatments is recommended based on each individual’s situation. More treatments will benefit in inducing collagen production in the skin.
Patients may experience redness and swelling after a Fraxel treatment during 2 - 3 days as well as skin peeling for 5 to 7 days. Serious side effects are minimal; however, these complications can be avoided by staying away from the sun before and after the procedure. Some people can return to their routine activities, including work and social events, the following day, while some require one to two days off. This is another reason why Fall is the ideal time to get a Fraxel treatment.
