Fraxel and Microneedling combination to improve skin tone and sun damage
When it comes to cosmetic facial treatments, there are two procedures that stand out. Dr. Ron Shelton recommends the combination of Microneedling and Fraxel laser which are both popular treatments to improve the skin tone and sun damage (wrinkles and sunspots).
How does it work?
Microneedling and Fraxel laser use a similar principle of inflicting micro-injuries on the skin, which triggers the body to produce skin-repairing collagen. However, they are performed differently and each produces different results. Specific skin issues such as smoothing out the fine lines and skin irregularities are best treated with Fraxel laser while Microneedling can be done for all over skin rejuvenation.
Watch below video to learn how Microneedling's new dimension in radiofrequency (RF) technology used to address sagging skin, wrinkles and changes in skin texture.

Fraxel vs Microneedling, which is better?
Most people ask which treatment is better for them. Dr. Shelton says that deciding between these two treatments will depend on each patient’s condition. However, the combination of both treatments is recommended without replacing one with the other, since they can be used to complement one another.

Benefits from Fraxel + Microneedling treatment
Wrinkles, sun spots and sagging skin are part of the aging process. However, these can be improved with the laser technologies used at Dr Shelton’s practice in New York City. Laser technologies are combined with Microneedling to lift the dead skin cells and clogged pores to improve collagen production and tighten the skin. Fraxel or Fractional laser is non-ablative. It is used to improve the sun damaged skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin discoloration. At Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York you can get this combination of treatments done on the same day.

Patients can achieve a great outcome without complications from this combination of treatments.

Elderly woman not candidate for wound care and downtime after carbon dioxide laser resurfacing had significant improvement in difficult-to-treat upper lip and lower cheek wrinkles after two Infini microneedling with radiofrequency treatments followed immediately after by the application in-office topical Sculptra which is absorbed through the channels of the microneedling to stimulate more collagen production. There was significant reduction of inelasticity and wrinkles and smokers’ lines before the third Infini microneedling treatment.
