Mask wearing to hide laser resurfacing convalescences
If the Summer sun has left your face with brown spots, poor texture, wrinkles or if aging or acne has left you with scars and wrinkles, laser skin resurfacing is your ideal treatment this Fall. With laser resurfacing your skin can peel off layer by layer, giving your skin a tighter and a younger look. Since the laser focuses on certain layers of the skin, it can be used to create a rejuvenated effect on the face.
Before and  26 Days after Laser Resurfacing with Fraxel Repair
There are various areas that can be treated with lasers. Patients can treat their full face, but also the areas around the eyes and the mouth specifically. The treatment can be done with a topical or local anaesthetic, depending on the scope of the procedure.

Laser skin resurfacing is recommended for those with the following skin conditions:
  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Smoker’s Lines above and below the lips
  • Uneven skin tone

What to expect during and after the procedure?

The type of convalescence ranges from moderate redness which can be covered the day after the procedure with concealer to a more intensive regimen of topical products to help heal those faces treated with more aggressive lasers and that may take a week and a half or even more to heal. The good news is the COVID-19 face mask can hide the laser resurfacing convalescences. Usually doctors recommend Fall season as the best time for laser treatment because the laser treated skin is hypersensitive to sun exposure. Your skin may look and feel as though it is severely sunburned and you will be instructed how to care for your skin during this initial process. Now with the COVID-19 mask you needn’t worry about concealing the area much with make up as most part of the face is hidden from the mask, especially for those patients who undergo perioral laser resurfacing (around the mouth).
Another benefit of the mask is to keep the treatment area free from infection and other complications.

After two Fraxel Restore – Dual laser treatments for Acne Scars
One of the most common lasers that Dr. Shelton uses for Summer induced weathering is the Fraxel Dual Laser. It helps reduce the crepiness of the skin, brown spots, and sometimes can improve widened pores. It helps the skin regain a healthy vibrant glow and helps topical products work better to improve the skin’s color, softness, elasticity and tightness.
