View Lant Pritchett's presentation on reducing global poverty which was given as the keynote at our recent 5th Annual Oxford Conference on Business and Poverty. Countering the intuitive notion that poverty reduction is about finding and implementing effective programmes for the poor, his slides show how broad-based increases in economic productivity that create prosperity are in fact the best route to the elimination of poverty, arguing that anything else is less justified by economics.
Lant is at the Blavatnik School, University of Oxford and is Research Director at Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE). Previously he was a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development and Professor of the Practice of International Development at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
