DMPG Retreat 2022 Sessions Start Today!

New this year for the Department of Medicine Professional Group Annual Retreat are After Hours Virtual Workshops. This session will include information on new teaching opportunities for faculty.  GIM/HSR faculty Jodi Friedman, Vice Chair for Education and Rachel Brook, Director of Ambulatory Medical Education, are leading this session with Wendy Simon, Course Chair for the Inpatient Medicine Clerkship.

Elizabeth KoTuesday, March 8, 6pm:  Integrative Medicine in the Department of Medicine and UCLA Health:   Our Department and UCLA Health have expanded resources for patients and physicians seeking integrative approaches to primary and specialty care.  This session will highlight how faculty can get involved, and how to refer patients.  GIM/HSR faculty Elizabeth Ko, Medical Director of the UCLA Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative, will lead this session.

Ale Casillas, MDWednesday, March 9, 6pm:  First Gen (First Generation College Graduate) Interest Group:   At UCLA and nationally, there is increasing interest in recognizing the professional, academic, and social contributions of First Gen faculty to medical education, clinical care, and advocacy.  This networking session will bring together First Gen faculty and allies in the Department of Medicine.   GIM/HSR faculty Alejandra Casillas is leading this session with Russell Buhr of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

Michael LazarusThursday, March 10, 6pm:  The Benefits of Membership in the American College of Physicians:  GIM/HSR  faculty member, Michael E. Lazarus, MBBCh, FACP started his four-year term as California Southern 1 Chapter Governor in the Spring of 2020.   Learn about how ACP promotes clinical excellence, student, resident, fellow, and faculty education, and advocacy.  This session is appropriate for faculty considering ACP membership, ACP members who want to become more active, and active members.

This session will focus on skills to advance EDI principles in the DOM. Emery ChangTuesday, March 15, 6pm: UCLA Health LGBTQ Champion Program:  Faculty in the Department of Medicine have been leaders in developing the LGBTQ champion program in DGSOM and UCLA Health.  This networking session is appropriate both for faculty who want to learn more about the program, and for those who are already involved.  GIM/HSR faculty member Emery Chang, LBBTQ Medical Director of UCLA Health System is organizing this session.
