Adoption News
Featured Dog:
Marley is a handsome lab mix who  is approximately 2 years old. He was a little shy when he first came to us but he has settled in and is a sweet, friendly boy. Marley is a young, active dog so he will also need an active owner. A yard to run and play is ideal for a dog like him. Marley does well with female dogs and with older children. Marley is ready to start the New Year with a forever home. If you are interested in this good boy, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesdays 6-8pm & Saturdays 12-3pm.
Featured Cat:
The Punk
Hi, my name is The Punk! I'm a 6-month old brown and black male tabby kitten. If you meet me, you're sure to fall in love with my adorable white socks and streak on my nose! The start of my life was a little rough as a stray, and I can be a little bit reserved when I first meet you. If you're patient, however, I will reward you with affection by softly rubbing my head on you and gazing into your eyes. I'm still quite young and like to play with toys and the other kittens I live with, and I don't mind the company of other cats. I'm a very curious but gentle boy and generally like to watch the action from the sidelines. I'm ready to start my new life in my forever home with you! Come meet me Wednesdays 6-8 pm or Saturdays 12-3.

Volunteer Spotlight
There is a need for dog and cat foster homes. Here is one of our foster volunteers.
Bill Rys with Bella.
Bill Rys has been volunteering at LHS for about 5 years and began fostering a year ago. His dog had died and he wasn’t sure about getting another so fostering was an alternative. He fostered Milo in early spring and has now had Bella since April.

A typical day with Bella starts at 6:00 am with a brief walk and breakfast followed by a longer walk on the college campus. Bella likes to sniff everything and is a scavenger, so Bill has to watch what she finds. Two more walks later on round out the day. Bella has her own couch on which to relax. She is sweet and loves people, often pulling on the leash to say hi to strangers.

Bill works seasonally for Welch’s and does stock trading from home. He likes to spend time with his girlfriend as well as reading, hiking, running, and lifting weights.

Bella is brought to the Adoption Center every Saturday from 12 to 3 pm so prospective adopters can meet her. Maybe you?

National Train Your Dog Month
January is National Train Your Dog Month. Training helps your dog be happy, well-adjusted, and less likely to get into trouble. Spend some time with your dog on basic commands. It can be a bonding experience for the two of you.
