Meet Millie! She is a 1 year old mixed breed pup that came to us as an unclaimed stray. Millie has such adorable unique markings, from the heart-shaped spot on her side to her perfect little “eyebrow." She’s a sweet girl who likes to stay close to her people and loves to cuddle! Millie does need some help learning basic commands but she’s a smart girl who should catch on quickly. If you are interested is this love bug, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours, Wednesday 6-8pm & Saturday 12-3pm.

TGIF! The dogs are in good hands on Friday mornings.

The happy Friday morning dog crew:
Dave McEntarfer, Becky Siragusa, Kristi Grondquist, and Bill Styborski
|
|
Dave McEntarfer
Dave has been involved with LHS for about six years and has served on the dog committee and as a dog manager. He especially gets satisfaction from getting a dog with emotional and behavioral problems to make great progress. Dave was a pharmacist with his own store in Brocton in the 1970s and then worked at J.N. Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg and WNYDDSO in West Seneca. While working for the state, he migrated to computer work: websites, programming, network administration, and cybersecurity, and he has continued to do that as a hobby for friends and non-profit organizations, including LHS. He has also been a Councilman in Forestville and is currently the Fire Commissioner. Dave and his wife have been married for 34 years. They have five children between them as well as eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and another on the way. They also have a Schnoodle (Schnauzer-Poodle). Dave has been a collector of old toy trains for almost 50 years.
Becky Siragusa
Becky has only been volunteering since February. She loves dogs and feels great when she can come in and help them. She retired three years ago after 31 years in the student accounts office at SUNY Fredonia. She and her husband Russ have a daughter Katie (who recently fostered Biggie) and a son Sam as well as a grandson. They have two dogs, Cody and Gema. Becky enjoys outside activities such as yardwork, camping, and playing with her grandson and dogs.
Kristi Grondquist
Kristi has been with LHS for 5-1/2 years. She became involved when her daughter volunteered on the cat side as community service for the National Honor Society. That daughter now works for the Ithaca SPCA. Kristi continued volunteering on her own on the dog side. She loves helping the animals and being with the other volunteers. Kristi and her husband have three children and one granddaughter, as well as a dog (Pitbull), two cats, and three birds. Kristi is a private duty home health aide. She enjoys reading, baking, and walking in the woods with her dog.
Bill Styborski
Bill was previously profiled as part of the Wednesday afternoon dog crew.
