DALI-2 certification now includes Part 208 for relays and switches

The DALI Alliance has extended the DALI-2 certification program to include control gear that function as switches and relays. Such devices implement Part 208 of the DALI-2 certification scheme, which is built on the international IEC 62386 standard.

Part 208 devices are most frequently used with non-controllable luminaires, allowing them to be switched on/off as part of the lighting control system. They can also be used to switch non-lighting loads such as motors, actuators, blinds, shutters or curtains.

The first certified devices that implement Part 208 are already listed in the online DALI Alliance product database. >> More details

DALI Alliance reaches 250 members

Our membership continues to grow and we have now reached a total of 250 members. In recent weeks, we have welcomed the following companies:

Associate members:
  • CIMCON Lighting Inc (USA)
  • Dongguan NB Power Electronic Limited (China)
Community members:
  • Dongguan Louis Geer Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. (China)
Both Regular and Associate members of the DALI Alliance are able to certify their DALI-2 and D4i products. Regular members can participate in our work groups and contribute to the development of test sequences and new specifications. Community registration is free for luminaire manufacturers, and allows companies to use the DALI-2 and D4i trademarks on their luminaires. Benefits of the different membership classes can be viewed here.

DALI Alliance unveils new name & logo

The Digital Illumination Interface Alliance (DiiA) will now use the brand name “DALI Alliance” to promote its ongoing activities that support market adoption of DALI lighting-control technologies, systems and products.

“Our organization has not changed, but the new DALI Alliance name clearly aligns with our core purpose,” said Paul Drosihn, General Manager of the DALI Alliance. “We are an open, global consortium of lighting companies, and we are focused on promoting the use of DALI as the predominant international standard for digital lighting control.”

To further build market recognition, the DALI Alliance has started to use a new logo based on the long-established and well-known DALI logo.

DiiA will continue to exist, providing the member-focused administrative structure that supports the public-facing activities of the DALI Alliance. DiiA is a Partner Program of IEEE-ISTO.
