DALI Newsletter June 2019

Welcome to the June 2019 edition of the DALI Newsletter from DiiA. This month, a key milestone was reached in the DALI-2 certification program with the addition of sensors and other input devices. Also, DiiA attended two major tradeshows - Lightfair and GILE - and our seminar presentations are available for download. Looking ahead, the program for the one-day DALI Summit is taking shape.

PRESS RELEASE: DALI-2 certification of sensors and input devices is now underway

DiiA has introduced DALI-2 certification for a range of products including light sensors, occupancy sensors, push-buttons, switches and sliders. These products, known as DALI-2 input devices, provide user-derived and environmental information to the lighting-control system.

“This is a significant milestone for DALI-2,” said Paul Drosihn, DiiA General Manager. “Now, all the main components of a lighting-control system can be DALI-2 certified.”

Benefits of the different membership classes can be viewed here.

Joint Zhaga-D4i certification program

DiiA and the Zhaga Consortium have unveiled their joint Zhaga-D4i certification program, indicating plug-and-play interoperability of luminaires, sensors and communication nodes.

Combining the expertise in the two organizations, the Zhaga-D4i certification program will enable smart, future-proof LED luminaires with IoT connectivity. Initially, the focus is on outdoor lighting, but indoor solutions are also in development.

New DALI version-1 registrations of LED drivers to stop

DiiA has set an end date for new DALI version-1 registrations of LED drivers. The last date that submissions will be accepted is December 31, 2019.

DALI-2 certification will continue to be available for LED drivers. DALI-2 tests for LED drivers (Part 207) have been available since August 2017, giving manufacturers a wide time window to migrate to DALI-2.

For products that are already DALI-version-1 registered, DALI Trademark use will still be permitted after December 31, 2019.

DALI version-1 registration will continue to be available for control gear types other than LED drivers.
