Dear Progressives of Golden Valley (and friends),
We're getting techie with it with a video intro this week! Enjoy!
LOCAL (GOLDEN VALLEY) I'll update you at the April 5 meeting: Please see lower right corner to RSVP!One ACTION ITEM: Please fill out this survey, the city wants feedback about comprehensive planning. Got ideas? Share them.
PREEMPTION BILL: I got a full run-down from the folks at NOC and had an incredible day at their meeting; more here.
TUESDAY 3/28: Omnibus bill with the controversial Stand Your Grand provision has a hearing. Protect MNis asking us MONDAY to flood GOP members of the committee with calls, and reach out to people you know who are constituents. They'd also like a strong showing at the hearing Tuesday – wear orange! Facebook link here.
NATIONAL RUSSIA: Now that ACA is safe for a while (woot woot!), focus of national organizers is collusion/Russia. I learned about the different types of investigations possible, please check this blog post. Right now we're limited to what the standing committee can do. Adam Schiff is fighting hard to keep it on track. Team Schiff has put out this call to action for Monday.
HUMANE SOCIETY: There's a bill that just cleared the Senate that has me personally enraged, it permits the killing of bears and wolves in their dens. It passed, so the only hope is a veto (unlikely), but I'm going to drop Donald a post card and call anyway. Spread the word, more outrage needed. Full info here.
FINAL NOTE: Making phone calls is humbling, it's basically being a number. You can keep it to "I'm calling to be counted as someone who opposes [or supports] bill# ____". Short and sweet. But if you've ever wondered if phone calls matter (like I have) read this!
APRIL 5: Mike Freiberg joins Progressive We Stand Golden Valley! We'll have our large group meeting, questions with Mike and an update on what we're working on, plus hearing from all of you! DETAILS AND RSVP HERE PLEASE :)
