Mojatu Foundation is leading the celebration of the 1st anniversary since Nottingham City became the first City of Zero-tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the UK. The event is to be held on 11th February 2022, from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm,

At this year's exciting event, the conference will bring together experts, practitioners, professionals, survivors, and community members working towards gender equality. We, as a foundation, take pride in helping young girls and women get the voice they need and even a brief appearance helps these women put an end to FGM help by spreading awareness. Drop by anytime between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm to show your support. We value your presence.
We engage directly with women and men in communities to raise awareness of the risks of FGM. We support them through training and confidence-building – which enables them to advocate for change in their communities. Mojatu Foundation will hold Community FGM Ambassador training sessions in order to build a team of community-based volunteers dedicated to the abolition of female genital mutilation. We are looking for community members and people working in BAME communities where girls and women are living with the effects of or at risk of undergoing FGM to join us.
You still got time to sign up for the conference today.

Our Streets Now: Ending Public Street Harassment
|
|
|
The most common form of violence in the UK for women and girls is public street violence, and it happens so frequently it has become normalised and is an everyday struggle for women. PSH can range from the typical car horn honking to creepy or even terrifying verbal comments and each time a woman experiences it leaves her feeling more and more scared, unsafe and can trigger PTSD.
Women and girls should be able to walk down the streets of their town without anticipating whether someone is going to catcall them or aggressively verbally harass them. Almost every woman or girl you have ever met has gone through something similar and this highlights its commonality. So, for these women and for future generations we want to help these women and girls to put an end to this continuous issue. Women and girls have always been taught that we must protect ourselves by dressing in a different way, not walking after dark, or not going anywhere by ourselves.
This leads to the internalisation of the concept of victim-blaming, which is wrong, so instead, we should tackle this ongoing problem from the other end and fight to end street harassment.
