A Letter from the Editor

If you've been reading recent news and LCI newsletters, you've likely learned more about the "Swing States," their role in the Blue Wave of 2018, and their critical importance to upcoming state, congressional and presidential elections.

Via voter programs created by allies Vote Forward and Swing Left, Lower Cape Indivisible has undertaken Letters to Voters campaigns in recent months and will be expanding them in 2020.

Writing letters to under-represented and/or unregistered voters in twelve critical states* is one of the most important and effective things we can do to help effect a Blue Tsunami in 2020 and save our democracy...from right here on Cape Cod!

These actions are concrete, results-driven, time-limited...and fun. But, each campaign costs money -- for printing, postage and envelopes. Just one-writing action can cost LCI $100!

This is where you come in! We are asking your financial help as we gear up for a 2020 Swing State Letters to Voters Campaign Blitz.

Please join our 12 for 12 Campaign by donating $12 dollars today
or by November 31st.

If you've attended a letter-writing action at the Brewster Ladies Library or area house parties, you'll know how easy and fun it is....and how good you feel afterwards! And if you can't participate in person, your donation will go a long way to turning out under-represented (and likely Democratic) Swing State voters in critical 2020 elections.

If you'd like more information on an upcoming letter-writing event, see below or email us at

On behalf of Lower Cape Indivisible, thank you for your support!

Why Letters to Voters in critical swing states?

As many of you know, LCI "lifers" and newbies have been participating in an innovative campaign that uses volunteer power to get voters to the polls—by mail and en masse. It involves us writing personal letters—lots of letters—to get people to the polls even if we are thousands of miles away. This is the power of a grassroots activist movement, and what we can do when we work together.

How does Get Out the Vote By Mail work?

LCI has been partnering with Swing Left and Vote Forward to launch a series of Get Out The Vote By Mail house parties and public space actions. We’re asking volunteers to get their friends and neighbors together and write letters to under-represented and likely voters in key states to help them register and encourage them to vote. At these parties, volunteers will personalize a pre-printed letter, hand-addressed to targeted potential voters. It's fun, effective, and key to expanding the number of voters in key elections happening right now and in 2020!

Pinpointing Pennsylvania for voter registration
Tuesday, November 19
4:00PM - 5:30PM*
161 Fox Meadow Drive, Brewster

* Depending on turnout, we may finish sooner!

We will be sending Vote Forward letters to 140 unregistered voters in Pennsylvania. This campaign targets not-yet-registered prospective voters in Pennsylvania and helps them register to vote from right here on Cape Cod.

If you've done this before, you know how easy it is. If not, and you have questions, please let us know. Please bring a few dollars to help defray LCI  printing, envelopes and postage expenses. Letters, envelopes and stamps will be provided. This is a concrete action we can all take, no matter where we live, to get unlikely-to-vote fellow citizens to the polls. Light refreshments will be served!

Georgia Is Suddenly in Play for Democrats in 2020

Republicans have had a hammerlock on Georgia for a generation. It could slip away — if Democrats decide to make it a fight.

The state is a must-win for President Donald Trump. Republicans are defending two U.S. Senate seats that may swing control of the chamber. Democrats remain underdogs, but population growth in the diverse and booming Atlanta area, along with the exodus of educated women from the GOP, have made them competitive in a state they’ve carried just once since 1980. Your donation—no matter the size—will help defray the direct costs of operations, from meeting room rentals and printing to posters and transportation. What’s more, your contribution will enable us to grow our programs to further inform and mobilize Cape Cod communities to resist the Trump administration and promote progressive values, candidates and policies at all levels.

Lower Cape Indivisible is an all-volunteer group of Cape Cod citizens whose mission is to mobilize for social, economic and environmental justice; promote universal participation in the democratic process; and resist political agendas that subvert American democracy. Standing for inclusion, tolerance, and fairness, we are one of more than 6000 Indivisible groups committed to resisting the Trump/Pence/McConnell agenda, as well as to holding our state and local leaders accountable for fair and ethical action. Our work is based on the original Indivisible Guide, created by former congressional staffers who wanted to demystify political activism and share effective tactics for change.
