As it is Pentecost we have a special extra family service indoors this Sunday. Pentecost is our celebration of God's gift of the Holy Spirit to Jesus's disciples, and to all of us. It marks the birthday of the Christian Church, and the start of the Christian mission in the world.
Also next week is the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's first ever 'war graves week' and Scampton church has been selected as the only site in Lincolnshire to host it. You are cordially invited to come along and hear about our local history. It's free but you have to book via Eventbrite. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is running its first ever War Graves Week this year. Running from the 21-28 May 2021, the week will shine a light on our work and the people who keep remembrance of our war dead alive. Through a series of talks, tours and events, both physical and virtual, War Graves Week will bring an immersive and inclusive programme that will reveal CWGC’s work and history in all its variety and demonstrate its ongoing relevance today.
Tours are planned at SCAMPTON CHURCH, LINCOLN. LN1 2SE
During the tour you will learn about the history of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and about the heroic actions and self-sacrifice of some of our casualties buried in the cemetery.
Tour lasts 1 hour max. and is on level ground. There is parking nearby. There are 'all access' toilet facilities on site.
Please come dressed for the weather and in a suitable walking shoe. The numbers on the tour will be limited to abide by Government restrictions and social distancing rules must be followed.
