Hello Again Everyone…

Following my last message on Tuesday cancelling our Mothering Sunday service, I thought I would update you on what's happening at Scampton Church.

With the recent Government and Church of England advice, it is with some sadness that I have to say that we will now be cancelling all of our services and meetings for some weeks to come. With Easter just around the corner I know that this will come as a great disappointment to many of you.

Should you need any help during the next few weeks due to Corona virus isolation please ring either me on 01522 730167 or Barbara Young on 01522 731900 and we will do whatever we can to arrange help for you.

On the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury, we are joining many thousands of Christians in lighting a candle this Sunday (Mothering Sunday), which has always been both a day of celebration for many and a sensitive and emotional day for some. We invite you to join us in this day of PRAYER and ACTION to remember those who are sick or anxious, and all involved in our health service. As one ACTION we invite you to place a lighted candle in your window at 7.00pm as a sign of Christian solidarity and hope in the light of Christ that can never be extinguished. Wouldn't it be wonderful if children could be encouraged to light their baptismal candles as well at the same time.

Another way to take ACTION to show our love for others is by supporting our foodbanks which are running desperately short. There is always a box at the back of church which is emptied regularly to donate tins of food for the needy. CLICK HERE to see the sort of things that are needed. Scampton Church is always open for reflection and prayer (you can also light a candle of hope there too).

We are hoping to work with other community partners in Scampton in an  effort to provide more help and assistance where necessary.
Examples include setting up a Community Blog on the church website to keep people informed. Things like:
Dave's Daily Bread at Scampton is offering to bake bread free of charge for people who are self isolating and have difficulty getting out. Currently he cannot source bread flour or baking yeast.
Things are constantly changing and I will continue to keep you up to date with what's happening via this link and on social media. In the meantime `I thought I would share some photo's of the beautiful Spring flowers in the churchyard with you.
