Late Start
Dear Soaring Heights Families,

We are looking forward to our middle school students returning to 4 days a week in-person learning after Spring Break, Monday, March 29th. We will be sharing more information with families regarding Elementary Friday Library times in the coming weeks.

We are also pleased to announce the following Academic Summer Programs for our Soaring Heights Students. Additional academic support in language arts and math will be offered through Project Launch at both the Elementary and Middle School levels. More information about Middle School Project Launch will be coming soon. If you are interested in registering for Elementary Project Launch please contact Jena Gratsch (gratsch_jena@svvsd.org). Innovation Academy offered through the Innovation Center is a fun STEM based program. This information is highlighted below.

Thank you for following the traffic flow guidelines shared within our weekly newsletter. We are noticing the traffic before and after school continue to improve and appreciate your support. We now have a Corner Captain located at the light by County Rd. 5 and Colliers Pkwy. The Corner Captain assists students with crossing the road before and after school. Please continue to reduce your speed while in the school zone to ensure everyone remains safe.

Soaring Heights will be hosting a live, virtual robotics competition this Saturday, February 27th!  Teams from Colorado will join teams from California, Arizona, and Virginia to compete in this year's VEX IQ Challenge Rise Above.  We are very excited to be hosting this event! Go Eagles!

As part of our Standard Response Protocols, the school performs monthly drills. We will be conducting a fire drill and lock down drill in the coming weeks. For more information about our Standard Response Protocols, please click the links below.

As a reminder, please review the safe with 7 guidelines posted below. It is important to screen your student every day prior to attending school. Please contact the school if you have any questions around these guidelines. We hope you have a restful and relaxing weekend.

Best wishes,
Cyrus Weinberger, Principal

Innovation Academy

Summer 2021

Traits of an Innovator: INTERDEPENDENT - RISK-TAKER - THINKER - CURIOUS - PERSISTENT - CREATIVE

Innovation Academy is an exciting summer program, designed in partnership with IBM, taught by St. Vrain Valley School District educators, with the support of Innovation Center PTECH students. Innovation Academy fosters a foundation of critical thinking through inquiry-based learning and uses the design-thinking process to create a community of learners who will think globally and collaboratively to develop innovative approaches to problem-solving. Do the characteristics above describe your child?  If so, this is the program you’ve been looking for!  Check out this link for more information or to register! Registration opens March 1!

Academic proficiency is an important district goal for all elementary students. Research shows that extended school year learning opportunities positively affect student success.

Important Drive Line Reminders

We appreciate your help and support as we work to smooth out our pick-up and drop-off procedures.  We have had some near accidents on County Road 5 and as result have created some new procedures in consultation with local law enforcement and our SVVSD safety manager.  Please use the procedures below along with the attached map to review the safest route for entering the school.

  • Cars may enter the Soaring Heights campus through the designated turn lane only (do not use the main northbound through lane to turn into the school)

  • Access outside of the turn lane will be coned off

  • Kindergarten and preschool parents may merge into the second lane in the roundabout to access the kindergarten/preschool parking lot after entering campus

  • Be extra careful when making a left at the intersection of Colliers Pkwy and County Road 5 as this is a major crossing for our students

Thank you for following these procedures.  Please remember to place a sign with student name and teacher on your windshield.  Parents may also use the high school bus loop to park after 8:00 am and after 3:00 pm.

Please take a moment to review this visual to help understand how the Drive Line works when dropping off and picking up students at Soaring Heights.
