Dear Soaring Heights Families,

What a great week! We experienced a respite from the cold this week and the weather was beautiful and warm. It is hard to believe we only have two short weeks before spring break.  It is important for us all to focus on working hard the last two weeks before a well-deserved break.  Please check in with your students to help them understand the importance of making the most of this time.

Last weekend we hosted the State VexIQ Robotics tournament at Soaring Heights. We had over 40 teams from around the State represented, and eleven teams from SHPK8.  We are incredibly proud of our SHPK8 and five of our teams qualified for Worlds!

We are looking forward to celebrating the Hope and Gratitude event with our students, family and community members this evening.  This is a great opportunity to reflect on the positive things in our community.  Hope to see you on Briggs Street at 5:30!

Next week is very busy at Soaring Heights! On Monday, March 7th, our wrestling team will be competing against Erie MS at Soaring Heights. On Tuesday, March 8th, we are hosting our Band and Orchestra Concert at 6:00 pm. The elementary Talent Show is on Wednesday, March 9th, starting at 5:30 pm. Our middle school Talent Show is Thursday, March 10th, starting at 5:30 pm. We finish up the week with our 6th grade wrestlers attending the 6th grade wrestling tournament at Mead High School. The 7th and 8th grade wrestlers will compete on Saturday at Mead High School to finish up their season.

As we move into spring it is easy to be fooled by our changing Colorado weather. Please remind your students to wear appropriate clothing for the changing seasons and the unpredictability of our beautiful State.  Please remind your students to bring charged iPads to school everyday. This is very important for their success each day with their assignments and assessments.

Thank you for your continued partnership in our community. We value our relationships with parents, students and the community.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Matt Romig, Dean of Students
Krystal Trinkler, Dean of Students
Meghan Quirk, Assistant Principal
Cyrus Weinberger, Principal

Congratulations to our Robotics Teams for a successful performance at Saturday's State Competition.  Five of our teams qualified for the Worlds Competitions this spring!
Our Hope & Gratitude Project event is coming up Friday, March 4th! We hope to see you all there. This year we are holding this as a community event on Briggs Street. We have three other schools participating. The idea is to have students make luminaries with things they’re hopeful and grateful for written on them. Families and community members can come walk through the luminaries and hear some of the things our school communities are hopeful and grateful for.

We need VOLUNTEERS for set up, especially, but also for clean up. Please sign up here if you can help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4EACAD2DABF4C70-hope

Set up will be from 2-5:30pm, the event is 5:30-7:30pm and clean up will happen after that until 8pm!

We'd like to give a big shout out to our event sponsors, Town of Erie, Colorado - Government and 24 Carrot Bistro - We couldn't have planned this event without your sponsorships!

We'd also like to acknowledge these awesome businesses along Briggs St. who are partnering with us for a Dine-to-Donate on the night of the event. A percentage of sales from 4-9pm will be split between the 5 participating schools!

* Azteca
* Eat at Birdhouse
* Echo Brewing and Pizzeria
* The Old Mine Cider Company
* Sweets Ice Cream
* Piripi

Soaring Heights PK-8 and Highlands Elementary have planned this event and the other schools we have participating are Black Rock Elementary, Erie Middle School, & Red Hawk Elementary. We can't wait to work with you!
