Soaring Heights SPIRIT WEEK
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
Dear Soaring Heights Families,
Something most highly successful people have in common is the experience of working through adversity and coming back from failure. Despite the many challenges this year has posed, our children have continued to grow and flourish. In the face of adversity, we have many great accomplishments to celebrate.  In the coming weeks we are pushing to make the most of our learning time as well as celebrate the amazing work of our students, teachers, and community members.

All students in grades 1-8 will be completing the final iReady reading and mathematics assessments in the coming week.  We receive the results of these assessments quickly and use this information to get an accurate level of individual growth and to help make class placement decisions.  Please encourage students to try their best and to get a good night's sleep. More information about specific days and times will be provided by classroom teachers.

Spirit and Teacher Appreciation Week will start on Monday.  This is a great opportunity to strengthen our school community and have some fun for our students. Our teachers and staff have made tremendous efforts to support our children this year, and we want to make sure to acknowledge their work this week. Please take a moment to thank a teacher or staff member for their stubborn optimism and relentless hard work.  The PTO has planned the week with daily activities and a theme (see information below). Thank you for your support in helping to send our school community into summer on a positive note.

We are excited to announce our mobile STEM Lab will be visiting Soaring Heights on Friday, May 14.  There will be lots of hands-on activities for students to experience.  Scientists from the Anschutz Neuroscience Program will also be joining the fun and will have additional experiments for students. This will definitely be a terrific way for students to engage in many STEM based science activities. We hope to see you there (more information below).

Our Kindergarten, 5th Grade, Middle School and 8th Grade teams are also planning end of year celebrations for their students. You will receive a separate email with links for how to join virtually.  Dates and times are listed below.

On a final note, I want to express congratulations to Ms. Lizabeth Baldivia, our middle school Social Studies teacher for receiving the Teacher of the Year award during the SVVSD Tribute to Teachers events held virtually on Friday, April 23rd.

Have an enjoyable three-day weekend. Please let us know if you have any questions or need help with anything.
Best wishes,
Cyrus Weinberger, Principal
New Mask Guidance

With upcoming changes to the state and county COVID-19 Dial Framework, we wanted to provide an update on our comprehensive school health and safety measures for the remainder of the school year. Students will continue to be required to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, however, beginning next week, mask wearing will become optional when students are outside. Additionally, our school will continue our increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols, the use of our high-quality MERV-11air ventilation HVAC systems, increased hand washing and sanitizing, and we continue to ask parents to conduct daily symptom checks before sending students to school. Community-wide COVID-19 testing continues to be available at our Innovation Center site, and we will continue to follow Boulder County Public Health quarantining protocols whenever there is a confirmed or suspected case in our school. If you have any questions about our health and safety protocols, please contact our front office at 303-702-8020.
Mark your calendars for our end of year celebrations. Students will participate in-person. Parents may join virtually. We will be sharing virtual celebration links to parents as the dates get closer.

Curbside Meals on Fridays

Location: Soaring Heights

Soaring Heights will be offering curbside meals from 11:00am - 12:30pm

Important Drive Line Reminders

We appreciate your help and support as we work to smooth out our pick-up and drop-off procedures.  We have had some near accidents on County Road 5 and as result have created some new procedures in consultation with local law enforcement and our SVVSD safety manager.  Please use the procedures below along with the attached map to review the safest route for entering the school.

  • Cars may enter the Soaring Heights campus through the designated turn lane only (do not use the main northbound through lane to turn into the school)

  • Access outside of the turn lane will be coned off

  • Kindergarten and preschool parents may merge into the second lane in the roundabout to access the kindergarten/preschool parking lot after entering campus

  • Be extra careful when making a left at the intersection of Colliers Pkwy and County Road 5 as this is a major crossing for our students

Thank you for following these procedures.  Please remember to place a sign with student name and teacher on your windshield.  Parents may also use the high school bus loop to park after 8:00 am and after 3:00 pm.

Please take a moment to review this visual to help understand how the Drive Line works when dropping off and picking up students at Soaring Heights.
