Middle School Students begin in-person Hybrid Learning

Dear Soaring Heights Families,

From the entire staff at Soaring Heights, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable winter break. We are tremendously grateful to work with your children and thankful for your unwavering support. It is a true honor to work in such a caring, creative, hard working community.

We are incredibly excited to return to in-person learning in the New Year. If you have not read Dr. Haddad’s letter, please take the time to review it carefully as there is important information and details related to our return to school in January (link to district website).

When we return to in-person learning on January 6 (elementary) and hybrid on January 11 (middle school), all of our previous protocols, and procedures will be the same.  Students will line-up and enter the building in same locations as before Thanksgiving break (see maps; middle school reports to the blacktop). Students are still required to wear masks and our Safe with 7 protocols and cleaning procedures will still be in place.  Please remember to put a sign in your front windshield with your child’s name, grade, and teacher to help afternoon pick-up run efficiently.  You will receive additional communication on January 4th or 5th from your child’s teacher with back to in-person reminders and other pertinent information.

If you would like your child to remain online through spring break, please complete this form. While we will make every effort to support children who remain fully online, it is important to recognize that our programming will prioritize students who are here in-person.

We appreciate your partnership in creating the best possible learning environment for your children. Again, we hope you have a fabulous break and look forward to seeing everyone in January. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or if you need further assistance.

Best wishes,
Cyrus Weinberger

Beyond Brick and Mortar

Featuring Amy Sasser

Amy Sasser is the Significant Support Needs teacher at Soaring Heights PK-8. Her life's mantra is summarized by the quote "she believed she could, so she did." She works tirelessly to ensure that this belief permeates to her students. St. Vrain Valley Schools are lucky to have Amy as a part of our #StVrainStorm because she goes beyond!

Physical Activity Ideas for Winter Break

Go Noodle-  A free movement based website - sign up under GoNoodle Family

Kidoodle TV - Go with YoYo - a free TV station with a movement channel called Go with YoYo.

Depending on the weather:
Neighborhood Lights Walk (Outside Activity)
Bundle Up and Go for an evening family walk around your neighborhood and look at holiday lights.

Snowman Contest (Outside Activity)
If there's new snow- put your family on teams and have a snowman making contest.  Who can build the tallest? Most decorative?

Clean Out Your Back Yard Snow Ball Style- (Inside Activity)
Divide your family into 2 groups- crumple up recycled paper, maybe 3-5 pieces of paper per family member.  Divide your space into 2 halves.  Possibly your living room, family room or basement could work for this activity.   On signal, throw the snowballs (crumpled paper) over to the other team's side. You play for a minute or two.  Count to see who has the least amount of snowballs (crumpled paper) in their yard.  Play for a few rounds.

Have a fun, safe, and healthy break!
