Volleyball Game

September 7 at 3:30 at Soaring Heights

Greetings Soaring Heights,

Our first full week has been busy as students become familiar with new teachers schedules, routines and friends. iReady testing started this week and is in full swing. This beginning of the year assessment will help us understand your child's strengths and areas needing attention in mathematics and reading.

We would like to cordially invite you to Back to School Nights on August 30, 31, and September 1.  Evening family time is tremendously important, so we have designed our Back to School Night to be as simple and informative as possible. Please plan to attend with your child.

The purpose of the evening is to give you a clear understanding of everything you need to know about your child’s classroom.  You can expect to learn about classroom routines, policies, and important events.  You will also learn about when to look for communication from your child’s teacher and how to contact them if you want to talk with them directly.

Back to School Night is not a time to conference directly with the teacher, but rather it is a time to become familiar with the teacher and get a better feel for what the classroom is like.  Should you need to raise a specific concern about your child, you will need to make alternative arrangements to speak with the classroom teacher.

Kindergarten 4:30-5:30 (Start in cafeteria)
1st grade 5:00-6:00 (Start in cafeteria)

4:50-5:30   Teacher Rotations (gym)

One of our themes this year as a District and school community is being a part of the Championship team. We have had the opportunity to go into classrooms and discuss with students how they are champions and a part of our school, district and community team. Please continue to talk with students about behavior expectations when they are here at school and that this is a time to RISE throughout the school year.

All families are required to electronically sign the acknowledgement of receipt for the SVVSD Code of Conduct.  Please see the information below to review the Code of Conduct and see instructions to sign the acknowledgement electronically.

Volleyball has started with their first game next Monday, August 29th, here at Soaring Heights. Cross Country registration is open to 5th-8th grade with 5th grade having an abbreviated season. The registration is currently open on REVTRAK and will be closing on 09/26/22. The first practice will be 8/29/22 at 3:45pm. Practices will run Mon-Thurs from 3:45-4:45pm. Chelsea McBride will be coaching and will share a schedule once it is complete.

Back to School Nights August 30, August 31, and September 1

Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.

To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.

UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS HAVE EXPIRED FOR THE 22/23 SCHOOL YEAR. Upon the start of the school year, students will be charged for lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals. We are encouraging families to apply for meal benefits for the 2022–2023 school year  to ensure negative balances do not accrue on students’ accounts.

Applying online is the fastest way to get your application processed to ensure no lapse in coverage happens. Applying online also reduces the chance for errors and the need to send applications back to families to correct.

If you do not believe you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please make sure that there is money on your students’ accounts. You can add money to their account through MySchoolBucks

For more information, please visit the Nutrition Serivces website.

St. Vrain Valley Schools recognizes the importance of being present every day. Student attendance – more than a test score or any other data point – is one of the most accurate indicators of whether a student will graduate and find success after high school. Students who have regular attendance in kindergarten and first grade are far more likely to be at or above grade-level in third grade and in later grades, score much higher in essential math and reading assessments. It is critical for students to attend school daily in order to acquire the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to be college and career ready.

For more information about district attendance policies, please visit the attendance page on the district website.

To report an absence at Soaring Heights, please complete the Report an Absence form or call 303-702-8020.  More information can be found on the attendance page on the Soaring Heights website.
