Happy September Soaring Heights Families,

What a wonderful week it’s been at Soaring Heights! It was fantastic to see all the families and students at Back to School Nights this week.  Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or need anything.  Our grade level presentations will be posted to our website under "Academics" so you can refer to them if you would like to review them again.

We are focusing on a championship mindset with our students this year. Please continue to talk with students about behavior expectations when they are here at school and that this is a time to RISE up throughout the school year. Being part of a PK-8 system provides a great opportunity for our students to be part of a great community with mentor roles, leadership, and connectivity.

As mentioned during Back to School nights, please review the district Code of Conduct and sign the acknowledgment electronically.  Please review the steps described here.

The insurance window for iPad insurance is closing on September 15.  We highly encourage all families to get insurance as the $25 fee will save you from having to pay for any replacement or repairs costs that typically range from $200-$400. Read more about the LTP Student iPad Insurance Program

Wednesday, September 7th is a Late Start Day, meaning that school begins at 10:55 am. Late Start provides teachers with an opportunity to connect and engage in professional development opportunities.

Please remember pets are not allowed on school property, unless they are a service animal.

Our volleyball team had their first game on Monday. They will play again on Wednesday, September 7th against Coal Ridge Middle School here at SHPK8. Our cross country team kicked off practice this week and will have their first meet on Wednesday, September 7 at Sunset Golf Course.

We look forward to a strong school year and appreciate your continued support and partnership as a school community. Have a fabulous Labor Day weekend. As always, reach out if you need anything.

Best Wishes,

Cyrus Weinberger, Principal
Meghan Quirk, Assistant Principal
Krystal Trinkler, Dean

This insurance fee will be added for every eligible student K-12 on August 1st. Please note that any student with an unpaid balance for iPad insurance from the previous year will not be eligible to join the pool this year until they pay off the previous year’s balance.

2022-2023 LTP Student iPad Insurance: $25

The iPad insurance fee will be reduced or waived for students eligible for a free or reduced price lunch under the federal poverty income guidelines and homeless students as defined by McKinney-Vento.

Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.

To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.

St. Vrain Valley Schools recognizes the importance of being present every day. Student attendance – more than a test score or any other data point – is one of the most accurate indicators of whether a student will graduate and find success after high school. Students who have regular attendance in kindergarten and first grade are far more likely to be at or above grade-level in third grade and in later grades, score much higher in essential math and reading assessments. It is critical for students to attend school daily in order to acquire the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to be college and career ready.

For more information about district attendance policies, please visit the attendance page on the district website.

To report an absence at Soaring Heights, please complete the Report an Absence form or call 303-702-8020.  More information can be found on the attendance page on the Soaring Heights website.

UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS HAVE EXPIRED FOR THE 22/23 SCHOOL YEAR. Upon the start of the school year, students will be charged for lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals. We are encouraging families to apply for meal benefits for the 2022–2023 school year  to ensure negative balances do not accrue on students’ accounts.

Applying online is the fastest way to get your application processed to ensure no lapse in coverage happens. Applying online also reduces the chance for errors and the need to send applications back to families to correct.

If you do not believe you qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please make sure that there is money on your students’ accounts. You can add money to their account through MySchoolBucks
