Dear Soaring Heights Families,

We are so looking forward to seeing families at our Hope and Gratitude event this Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and families to celebrate our hopes for the future and what we are grateful for as an entire community in a safe way. This drive through event will showcase over 800 student created luminaries with a recording of students' hopes broadcast on FM 98.3 along with posters displaying what students are grateful for. The neuroscience behind focusing on hope and gratitude draws a direct correlation to increased happiness.  I would like to thank the PTO and all of our staff for putting together this celebration.

Parent teacher conferences are underway.  Please make sure to connect with your child's teacher(s) to learn more about current levels of performance, celebrate success, and develop a clear plan for addressing areas of improvement. If you need support with signing up for conferences, please reach out to the front office.

While this year has had its challenges, our students and teachers have been able to leverage technology to increase learning outcomes in some amazing ways.  As a staff, we have been focusing on blended learning techniques that offer the ability to allow students to move at their own pace, receive differentiated assignments, and receive a deeper level of discourse.  For example, a 4th grade class received a whole group math lesson followed by a short 6 question formative assessment.  Based on this assessment students were assigned one of three different student activities (challenge, practice, reteaching).  While students were working on these activities, the teacher was pulling small groups at each level. After meeting with the teacher, the students who were still struggling with the concept were able to watch a short video for a third exposure to the material before taking the initial assessment again.  It is this type of lesson that is enhancing student learning and teacher instructional practices.

We also want to recognize our counselors (Cindi Samorajczyk-Lyon and Kelly Kurz) during Counselor Appreciation week for all their amazing work.  We are very grateful for their support and dedication of our students each and every day.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance.  It is fantastic to have our students back in the building.

Best wishes,
Cyrus Weinberger, Principal

Important Drive Line Reminders

We appreciate your help and support as we work to smooth out our pick-up and drop-off procedures.  We have had some near accidents on County Road 5 and as result have created some new procedures in consultation with local law enforcement and our SVVSD safety manager.  Please use the procedures below along with the attached map to review the safest route for entering the school.

  • Cars may enter the Soaring Heights campus through the designated turn lane only (do not use the main northbound through lane to turn into the school)

  • Access outside of the turn lane will be coned off

  • Kindergarten and preschool parents may merge into the second lane in the roundabout to access the kindergarten/preschool parking lot after entering campus

  • Be extra careful when making a left at the intersection of Colliers Pkwy and County Road 5 as this is a major crossing for our students

Thank you for following these procedures.  Please remember to place a sign with student name and teacher on your windshield.  Parents may also use the high school bus loop to park after 8:00 am and after 3:00 pm.

Please take a moment to review this visual to help understand how the Drive Line works when dropping off and picking up students at Soaring Heights.
