Issue No. 2 - January 10, 2021
We've Got You Babes
Let’s give a big blue crew cheer to Ryan and Michelle Kinkade, who have graciously offered to chair the VCS 2021 Gala. Michelle is a veteran of the Gala effort and planned to return as a co-chair. Her husband, Ryan, joins her this year as a co-chair. They may not be Sonny & Cher, but they are the dynamic duo of ideas and enthusiasm. Michelle and Ryan are parents of 6th and 3rd grade students, and like all VCS families, they have been hanging tough in the distanced learning world.
"Our family is thankful for the outstanding educational legacy the Sisters started more than a century ago. It is a blessing to be part of such a great community during these difficult times - we couldn't have done it without the incredible support from the Sisters of Saint Mary of Oregon and the VCS faculty and staff. We look forward to seeing you at the Gala and hope that everyone in our community is healthy and well." - Ryan & Michelle Kinkade.
... about the Online Auction -- it is beginning to take shape! Check out these exclusive ‘only at Valley’ experiences.
Shooting with the Sisters – A trap shooting experience at Camp Howard for the first 24 bidders willing to take aim at this item. Sr. Krista vonBorstel and SSMO trap launching assistants make this a once in a lifetime experience for many and a perennial favorite for those who set their sights on coming back for another shot at the Camp Howard clays.
VCS Christmas Tree Lighting – December 2021: Clark Griswold, we’re stealing your thunder! Bid on your opportunity to light the VCS Christmas tree at the 3rd Annual Tree Lighting. Join us (hopefully in-person!) for Christmas carols, hot cocoa, and more!
A View of the Rock – This stunning, four-bedroom Cannon Beach home sleeps eights and sits right on the sand with a panoramic view of Haystack Rock. Enjoy a full week’s stay at this beautiful home with beach-front access. Many thanks to the Kaushik family!
Rum Balls Anyone? – Not just anyone, but our own Sr. Rita Watkins makes the most incredible rum balls. These popular treats are sweet, chocolatey and loaded with, well, rum. Delivered at Christmastime. Make Sr. Rita’s rum balls part of your next Gala experience. You won’t regret it.
With a Little Help From Our Friends
We may be distanced, but we still need your support. Here's how you can get involved:
Sponsor – Sponsors play a crucial role in the Gala by helping us to ensure that all funds raised benefit our students. We welcome businesses, foundations, families or individuals to help make Gala 2021 a success.
Attend – Join us for the big night, and invite your network too! It's free and allows for unlimited attendance, so invite the extended family. The invitation and registration link will be easily shared.
Donate – We would like to offer a handful of "only at Valley" packages for bid, including one-of-a-kind wine and/or culinary experiences and vacation homes. Have a resource or great idea? Contact Caroline Fogarty at 503-718-6486.
Volunteer – We will need a crew of volunteers to deliver appreciation packages to sponsor businesses and attendee homes in early February.
The Gala website will be open soon. Invitations are coming early February.
Celebrate VCS' amazing faculty, families, students and alumni while raising critical funds for Valley Catholic School.
