Live Auction Showcase
Imagine yourself sitting on this beautiful deck, gazing out at the ninth hole of the Woodland Golf Course, playing in the game room, and soaking in the relaxing private hot tub. This beautiful five-bedroom home is perfectly situated to offer a quiet atmosphere for your family to enjoy, while still being close to all kinds of attractions. As we know, Sunriver is a great destination spot any time of year and offers everything from snowmobile rentals to a huge rec center with indoor and outdoor water activities. It's all included with this incredible home that sleeps 12 (SHARC passes as well!). It can be yours for a full 7-night stay when you are the winning bidder in the live auction. Wow!

Class Project Showcase

Imagine that kindness grows in your garden. The third grade students have done just that. In this piece, framed around a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the students have carefully illustrated how their gardens are filled with flowers and fruit, with kindness at the root. Each canvas tile was carefully illustrated in pastel and then mounted to convey a view through the window to a garden.

     Kind hearts are the garden,
     Kind thoughts are the roots,
     Kind words are the flowers,
     Kind deeds are the fruits,
Take care of your garden and keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine, kind words and kind deeds.
                              -- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This beautiful project will be available as part of the mini-live auction on Gala night. What a treasure it will be for the winning bidder!
Gala Catalog Gets an Upgrade
Changes are coming to the Gala catalog!
We will have new and more appealing pages this year. Many more pages will feature full color, an upgrade that will allow us to:
  • More accurately show how beautiful the VCES Class Projects really are
  • Allow our sponsors and advertisers to feature their businesses in full color
  • Underwrite printing costs with the addition of color and more ads
We hope to release the electronic catalog on February 19. Look for an announcement of its availability. But first, consider placing an ad for your business or congratulating your student or favorite sports team. We can accept ads only until this Friday, February 8. Go to the website at and use the catalog advertising links to learn more.
Adventure Awaits!
High School Trip Update
High School Trips - For the Gala, each high school class sponsors a trip package to be sold at the live auction. As in the past, we are asking high school families to make a donation of $25 per student. The key is participation at a level that is appropriate for your family. Many high school families have now stepped up and made a contribution.  Thanks to you, we are well on our way!

Remember, each class will receive 'Spirit Points' for any and all donations received by Friday, February 8 at 4:00 p.m. In addition, the class with the highest rate of participation will receive a tasty treat.  Here are the current standings in the contest:
Freshman Class - 43% participation rate
     Sophomore Class - 34%
     Junior Class - 35%
     Senior Class - 22%

Donations can be made now by using this link.

Last year, your donations allowed us to procure trips to San Diego, Monterey, Walla Walla and Whistler, BC. All were offered with great success in the live auction at the Gala. Next week, we will announce the winning class as well as our trip destinations for 2019. Stay tuned!

Volunteers Needed!

We still are in need of a few more volunteers. The Gala would not be possible without the help of approximately 100 dedicated volunteers. We have openings on Gala weekend to help with hospitality, set-up, distribution and retrieval, and tear down. Please use this link to offer a few hours of your time. Ask anyone who has helped in the past, working on the Gala is fun!

Important Dates

February 8 - Procurement contests end for both the High School Trip effort as well as the drawing for a reserved parking space
