Growing Greens in the North

In 2019 the Churchill Northern Studies Centre received a Nutrients for Life Learning Grant to help spread the knowledge of their “Rocket Greens” program to schools in the Polar Bear capital of the world!  They have now grown over 40,000 "Rocket Greens" providing community members, restaurants, and local grocery stores with subarctic greens. The ability to grow and provide nutritious greens for their community is truly an amazing story that needs to be shared.

We wish Churchill Northern Studies Centre all the best in their continued growth of "Rocket Greens" for their local community!

The Farm
Airdrie, AB

The Farm is an actual school farm where 40 students get to grow produce and learn for an entire school year.  The Farm received a Nutrients for Life learning garden in 2019.  Lately the Farm has been getting lots of interest! Many schools are looking at the Farm as a model of how to restructure their schools around the wonderful industry of agriculture.

Resource Highlight

Have your students jump in our tractor and grow a crop of corn!  During this short simulation, students have to feed and water their corn crop while protecting their environment.  This resource is a great introduction to how 4R Nutrient Stewardship is used in agriculture to grow food sustainably.
