On September 6, 2021, Joe Biden announced his “comprehensive” Path out of the Pandemic six-part strategy, which includes vaccine mandates, “strong mask requirements” and “increased testing,” among other things. We’re told it “relies on the power of the federal government” in partnership with states, the private sector, and the rest of us to succeed. In the coming weeks, the White House will “announce additional steps to build on the progress the Administration has made to combat the pandemic globally.”
Despite its positioning as a “science-based” strategy, the Biden plan—specifically vaccines and boosters with no discussion of natural immunity—remains under scrutiny by myriad medical experts. Also, despite the availability of vaccines for nearly all ages (now ages 5+, against the medical opinion of many specialists) and the fact that nearly 75% of American adults are at least partially vaccinated, we’re told that’s not enough. To ensure we’re protected, “strong” mask requirements will “remain in place.” In fact, we’re assured we can depend on the “power of the federal government” to keep us safe.
Let’s begin by acknowledging that for decades, we, as a nation, embraced and appreciated the medical community that brought us vaccines. Voluntarily, most of us immunize ourselves and our children. With new breakthroughs, we assess news reports and data, then, make a decision. When we have questions, we pause. But something’s changed—drastically. Policy seems out of step with common sense.
According to renowned clinician, cardiologist and researcher Dr. Peter McCullough, who developed the first treatment regimen for COVID-19, we’re not following standard medical protocol. In a pandemic of this kind, typically, we rely on a team of qualified, board-certified, clinically-grounded doctors in relevant subspecialties; the exchange of ideas; peer-reviewed studies; and international collaboration. Instead, we have none of that, and, says Dr. McCullough, we’re operating under a “medical dictatorship,” taking recommendations from people who don’t even treat patients. Why is that? Consider where we are:
- Almost two years into the pandemic, we’ve learned a lot: natural immunity is robust, asymptomatic people do not transmit the virus, not even one study proves masks work, the vaccine does not work as well as we hoped against new strains, and the vaccine safety profile raises serious concerns.
- According to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), 9,143 people died after receiving the vaccine over the course of 10 months; compare that with 6,214 deaths from all vaccines over the past 30 years.
- Young adults and children represent the population least at risk for hospitalizations and virus-related deaths; according to the World Health Organization and John Hopkins University CSSE, the virus-related death rate for young people is less than 1%—for people ages 10-39 it’s 0.2%, it’s 0.4% for people ages 40-49, and 1.3% for people ages 50-59.
- Yet, considering all these things—natural immunity, questions about vaccine and mask efficacy, adverse events, low mortality rates among young people—there seems to be an aggressive, concerted effort among government officials, media moguls, big tech and the private sector to advance vaccine mandates at an accelerated rate for people of all ages in ways never witnessed before.
Why is that?
A means to an end
This is not about the vaccine… or public health… or pandemics. They are but a means to an end. This is about the mandate. More accurately, this is about vaccine passports—a digital passport currently in development that stores all your medical data in one place and enables the government to determine whether you can shop, bank, travel or live based on your compliance—like China’s current social credit system in which citizens receive social scores depending upon their behavior. Paper passports today; digital passports tomorrow. And tomorrow is closer than we may think.
According to Dr. Naomi Wolf, an investigative journalist, the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor, and the author of the New York Times bestseller, The End of America: “Every tyrannical system keeps lists.” Wolf explains that lists allow them to switch whole sectors of society on and off. In an interview with Mat Staver, Christian attorney, founder of Liberty Counsel and host of “Freedom Alive,” Wolf said:
"I’m not surprised that the functionality of loading all your medical data is being added to these passports… I warned about the research Bill Gates [has] invested in [at the tune of $300 million]… a chip [in which] ... your medical data [is uploaded] and implant[ed] ... into your skin… [because] data is the new oil—that’s the cliché of the 21st century. And, so, whoever controls everyone’s medical data, really controls the world."
What are we saying? We’re saying we must be circumspect. As Jesus said, we must be able to interpret the signs of the times (Matthew 16:3). As bright lights (Matthew 5:16) in a dark world, we must speak the truth. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who helped the Russian people resist Soviet totalitarianism wrote one last message to them before he was exiled, advising them never to cave to propaganda. He recognized totalitarianism as a spiritual problem more than a political one. And he believed Christians, with their spiritual lives in order, could prevail. But, he stressed, they must “not live by lies.”
In his book, Live not by Lies, Rod Dreher writes about Solzhenitsyn’s final words:
In the essay, Solzhenitsyn challenged the claim that the totalitarian system was so powerful that the ordinary man and woman cannot change it. “Nonsense,” he said. “The foundation of totalitarianism is an ideology made of lies. The system depends, for its existence, on a people’s fear of challenging the lies.” Said the writer, “Our way must be: Never knowingly support lies!”
This is a sobering admonition. Are we facing similar circumstances? Dreher calls the big tech censorship and government overreaches occurring today “soft totalitarianism.” He says we, Americans, don’t see it or believe it when we see it, because we’ve never lived it. But citizens who have immigrated from socialist or communist countries feel these tactics portend the all-too-familiar movements toward authoritarianism. Wolf, too, in her book, The End of America, identifies 10 steps to totalitarianism and claims we’re on step 10. It’s not hard to believe considering the swift moves to lockdowns and the resistance to return to normalcy, keeping us in a state of emergency, which is a means of control.
But these are times for courage. We, too, must call a lie a lie and speak the truth in holy boldness, knowing that the Holy Spirit is ever with us and will give us what to say in our hour of need (Matthew 10:19). But, everything we say and do, we say and do because we love people and because we want to see them saved. So, we must act with compassion and love.
Recently, OSHA announced its ruling requiring companies with 100+ employees to mandate the vaccine or require weekly testing by January 4th or face thousands of dollars in fines. The mandate impacts 17 million healthcare workers at 76,000 healthcare facilities nationwide and 84 million employees. In an interview, Biden said, “My message to unvaccinated Americans is this: ‘We’ve made vaccinations free, safe, and convenient… We’ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin.’”
Americans all over the country are fighting back, refusing to accept mandates. The Liberty Counsel, a group of Christian attorneys advancing religious freedom, filed a class-action lawsuit against the Biden administration on behalf of all five branches of the military; attorneys general of 24 states threatened to sue the Biden administration if it didn’t withdraw its mandates; governors in a number of red states announced executive orders banning mandates of all kinds; the largest NYPD union filed suit in New York City over vaccine mandates; Southwest Airlines changed course after the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association sued over such mandates; 100 firefighters and city workers in Chicago sued the city over mandates; and healthcare workers and staff all over the country risk losing jobs because of mandates. Recently, Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-Tenn.) sponsored the “Natural Immunity is Real Act” to require the government to consider all the data when developing policy, including the robust protection afforded by natural immunity. Also, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) introduced the “Freedom from Mandates Act,” claiming Biden exceeded executive powers with vaccine mandates.
According to attorneys at the Liberty Counsel, the mandates are unconstitutional primarily because the vaccine inventory in use is still under emergency use authorization. When the approved formulation is available, Americans will still have the right to an exemption based on sincerely held religious beliefs or medical concerns.
Standing firm, therefore
The apostle Paul charged us to “… be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God … and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV) So, we stand, and we wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, as our standard of truth (Ephesians 6:17).
But that’s not all. In addition, we can write to members of Congress and ask them to fight unconstitutional mandates. To better understand why it’s illegal, we can read the reasoning the 24 attorneys general present in their letter justifying the unconstitutionality of vaccine mandates on the link below.
Also, we can sign a petition opposing mandates on the Liberty Counsel website (lc.org). And, if anyone needs legal support, he or she can secure free legal advice from attorneys at Liberty Counsel. See the links below to access these resources.

Finally, trust in the Lord. Make Him your rock, your fortress, and your refuge. For he who trusts in the Lord will have no fear of bad news (Psalm 112:7). Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NIV)
